Tp-link CPE510(EU) v1.1 reboots to pharos after TFTP download

Forums:
Hi, I am trying to get AREDN firmware onto a couple of CPE510 units but after TFTP transfer completes and the Unit restarts it is still running Pharos. I have tried stable and nightly. Can anyone suggest where I might be going wrong? My next step will to be to fit a header and try the serial interface. Thanks & 73 Ellis G7SAI

Limit MCS on radio

Forums:

I am referencing a past post:
Manual MCS control? | Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (arednmesh.org)

Does anyone know if the suggestion to add a addition as follows will still work?  I have been spending considerable time trying to understand why some of our nodes(ALL RF)  are having some throughput issues.  RF nodes shooting through some trees  are subjected to varying signals and it would be interesting to see if limiting the speed to create a more reliable, but slower connection.

Lhgxl vs ldf with .7 meter dish

Forums:
Hi all. I have a lhgxl 5g and a ldf with a 1 meter dish. After... Looking at it for a minute, there is simply no way to safely secure this dish at a location where it can see the node I'm trying to hit. I put up the lhgxl, but it really needs a bit more gain. In my brain bigger dish equals more gain, but on paper it seems that might not be the case with the ldf: Lhgxl 5g says 28dBm and 27dBi of gain. The ldf says 25dBm and with a 1 meter dish it can achieve up to 33dBi of gain. So with a .7 meter dish, it doesn't seem like I would see a substantial improvement. Am I missing something?

Background noise of MikroTik LDF 2

Forums:
Hello,
a recently flashed MikroTik LDF 2, mounted on a 35 cm offset dish, shows the following parameters:  Signal/Noise/Ratio
-80 / -88 / 8 dB
Why that bad background noise and how to improve it, if possible?
Thanks for any help

NanoStation M2 XM - can only run 3.19.3.0 or older; pukes on latest or nightly builds

Forums:

Cross posted to the FB group -

NanoStation M2 XM - Using TFTP method, after downgrade to AirOS 5.5.x, can load up AREDN up to 3.19.3.0 (started with 3.15.1.0 factory), however, moving to the current 3.21.4.0 or the nightly builds hoses the radio.

Will flash LED #4 (green) the typical 30 or so seconds, but then does dark. Only power LED lights up.

Recover back to 3.19.3.0 and it behaves correctly with the Ethernet light and LED #4 solid upon boot.

Will also crash on the Apply button in the Setup web GUI - cgi-bin error.

Ubiquiti Product Comparison

Forums:

The first two 802.11ac-capable devices being targeted for support by AREDN are the Nanostation 5ac and the Ubiquiti Nanobeam 5ac Gen2.  Here's a comparison to their most equivalent currently supported models:

Nanostation M5 - Two 10/100 Mbit/second interfaces, 64 MB DDR2 RAM, 560 MHz CPU (XW hardware; old XM was 390 MHz), 45 degree beamwidth (both vertical and horizontal polarization), 14-16 dBi gain, 8 watts power consumption, 24V POE.  Current price (when you can find them): $85

hAP Lite doesn't like a Win10 box

Forums:

So I have an HP mini computer, running Win10 that my hAP absolutely refuses to assign an IP to it. The same computer will easily be assigned an IP by my internet router so I have to assume the DHCP client is working properly.
This is via a hardwired LAN connection and the hAP is set for 13 host direct so I know there are plenty of IPs in the pool available (only 5 are currently assigned).

I snooped around with SSH and couldn't find any relevant logs in /var/logs

Cisco Aironet RM 1252

Forums:
Hello, I'm working with a small group of hams in the Boise, Idaho area on setting up some AREDN nodes. We have a few online but nothing much elevated yet, planning next summer when the mountains unfreeze! I'm not a developer or anything, but I inherited some commercial wifi gear and my searching has not yield anything on trying to get AREDN on this.
I have two units of Cisco Aironet RM1252G-A-K9 and AIR-RM1252A-A-K9 (2.4GHz and 5.8GHz modules). I'm not very hopeful, but will these work with AREDN?

Rocket M5 TI

Forums:
Anyone have any experience with these weird boxes?   I'm trying to load one via tftp, and it's not clear which package is needed.    The Model Number is M5T, and it has an SMA connector for a GPS antenna

I've tried these images, with these results:

aredn-702-20d73ea-ath79-generic-ubnt_rocket-m-squashfs-factory.bin  -- NO  - Firmware Check failed
aredn-702-20d73ea-ar71xx-generic-ubnt-rocket-m-ti-squashfs-factory.bin  -- NO  -Firmware Check failed
