Hello,
a recently flashed MikroTik LDF 2, mounted on a 35 cm offset dish, shows the following parameters:
-80 / -88 / 8 dB |
Why that bad background noise and how to improve it, if possible?
Thanks for any help

What does the snrlog history show with this neighbor -- to see over many hours? These devices are unable to measure an absolute value. What they do is measure the ambient noise and call that -95dBm. Then, in an attempt to deal with other noise, it can raise the noise floor where the DSP attempts to decode the remaining signal.
Thanks, Joe for your comment,
The LDF-2 is linked on the -2 channel with an RB911G-2HPnD that is showing an ambient noise of -95dBm.
What kept my attention was the -88dBm on the LDF-2, that I have never seen before on a device.
Unfortunately, I don't know how and where to look for the snrlog you mention.
On the nodes' status page, click on "charts" button. Then click on "archive" and select the neighbor in question. What does the graph look like -- grab a screen shot?

here the archive
hello Joe,
this is a new "snrlog" archive where you can see the noise before ( i.e. the one sent yesterday) and (today) after having changed the Azimut of the node toward the neighbor.
Best guess, changing the direction of the antenna helped to not pickup whatever interference is at the site, if it holds over time.
Thanks, Joe for your advice.
