Fixing the Airrouter you blew up with the wrong wall wart

Forums:

You went and done did it, you killed your Ubiquiti Airrouter, because you grabbed the wrong wall wart and overvoltaged it.  And now it's dead.

Well, there's a good chance that only the little switching DC-DC 5V to 3,3V downconverter circuit blew up.

Linksys WRT-54 series

Forums:

Greetings to all -

I am spooling myself up on the HAM Mesh world and while being new I am running into some confusion. First of all I was looking at the other HAM mesh website and was planning on using a Linksys WTR-54GL (not 100% sure on the suffix) for loading firmware on to it. This would turn them into Mesh NODES as I was told and be in the amateur band. In being referred to the website here I do not see that listed as firmware or a device.

Ubiquiti NanoStattion2 with XS firmwareu

Forums:

I bought an Ubiquiti NanoStation2 2.4GHz Indoor/Outdoor Dual-Polarity 10dBi CPE (FCC ID: SWX-NS2, IC ID: 6545A-NS2) at a garage sale.  The software version on this device is XS2.ar2316.v4.0.2.4996.120423.0955.  As such, this appears to be an airMAX ®  legacy product.  I do not find this device in the supported platform matrix at   https://www.arednmesh.org/content/supported-platform-matrix  on the AREDN website.  My newbie question, therefore, is:   Can this device be made to function in th

TP-Link CPE210 continuous reboots

Forums:

Gents,

happy new year and congrats to the very nice work you did and do!

I am Marcus, 37 years old from south-west Germany, close to the black forest.
Actually we are setting up a little AREDN Network on 2,4 and 5 GHz.

We made a short overnight Workshop and flashed several different Ubiquiti devices as well as some CPE510 and 210.
We also set up a VOIP Server and made some easy back-to-back stations as well as some multi stations by using a toughswitch.
Due to our topography we will need a lot of repeater-stations.

Ability to reinstall RouterOS on Mikrotik devices

Forums:
No one has investigated, that I know of, the ability to reinstall RouterOS on a MikroTik device.   I've not researched sufficiently to know if the RouterOS license must be saved on a device prior to overwriting flash with AREDN firmware.    The instructions to save this license is documented on the OpenWrt common Mikrotik procedures page:

https://openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/common

Anyone tried to reload RouterOS and had success/failure?

Can you run Aredn on a Raspberry Pi?

Forums:

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a version of Aredn you can run on a Raspberry Pi? There is an old, not supported, not recommended, version of BBHN that I have running on a Pi now. I was hoping to convert it to an Aredn node now that I'm changing over to an Aredn mesh. Has anyone tried this yet?

Thanks,

Rocket M2 XW - No ethernet after flash

Forums:
I have 2 Rocket M2 XW (verified as XW through AirOS prior to flashing) - initially had AirOS 6.1.5 on each unit.  I downloaded the appropriate firmware (checked it 3 times prior to flashing the units) and flashed - the flash completed and the devices rebooted.  Now NEITHER of the units is issuing an IP address via DHCP.  Have used mulitple laptops to try and get a lease but "no go."

The units both actually start up,  Green light on the left, a green network light when the cable is plugged in, and after booting, a solid green light on the right-hand side as well.

Upgrading Ubiquiti Rocket M2 via administration page

Forums:

Hi there,

I have a Ubiquiti Rocket M2 that was flashed with the old Broadband Hamnet firmware (3.1.0) and we want to upgrade it to AREDN. The one issue I have is the reset button is pretty mangled from trying to use screwdrivers to push it. I had it in TFTP mode once, but couldn/t get it to work with Windows 10. So my question is can I use the Administration page from the localnode site to upgrade the firmware, or are they completely incompatible?

A second question is do I use the sysupgrade firmware, or would I still have to use the factory one first?

New Guy Question

Forums:
I installed the current AREDN firmware on an Ubiquiti Rocket M2.  What's odd is my computer will only connect to it using the IP address with the port number.  It will not connect to the Rocket using the localnode address.  Is this an issue on my computer or on the Rocket?

Computer is a Windows 10 machine.  I sure miss Windows 7!

Although this is a minor annoyance at home, I can see it being problematic when trying to connect over RF.

This is all entirely new to me so there may be something obvious I'm just not thinking of.

Rats! Another way to reset your node to default...

Forums:
Yes, rats! We had a rat chew through several cat5 cables and a fiber cable at work. Upon fixing, my node was reset to default! Apparently whatever the PoE reset button does, so does the rat teeth! Ian
