Nanostation M2 XW and M5 XW port usage standardized

Forums:
The code to standardize the port usage on the NS M2 XW and NS M5 XW has been committed to the git repository.  This means these changes will be available in the morning Nov 15, 2018 in nightly build images.

What specifically has changed?

Before:   LAN was only on primary port, DtDLink and WAN on secondary port only.  This is inconsistent with other AREDN devices
After:   LAN/DtDlink/WAN all correctly function on main port with a single cat5 network cable like all other AREDN devices.

Additional benefit added but with limitations:

Mikrotik support

Forums:
Hi AREDN team,

I've discussed this morning with a possible provider about the project of an AREDN mesh using Mikrotik devices. From previous posts on the forum, Ubiquiti support might be dropped because of proprietary tech in their AC line, so I decided to look into Mikrotik.

Video Tutorial on Flashing Mikrotik Device with Windows

Forums:

I made a Youtube video walking through how to install AREDN Firmware onto a Mikrotik device using Windows. It's about 20 minutes long, as I am more or less learning the process as I am going through it.

Hope it is helpful.

Standardized NanoStation XM Ethernet port configuration

Forums:
The NanoStation XM devices now have fully functional ports - both main and secondary.   This capability will be in Dec 3, 2018 nightly build.   The behavior is now same as NanoStation XW devices.   POE Passthough is also functional.

TP-Link CPE610 now available in Nightly Builds

Forums:
The changes for CPE610 are now in the code repository and will be in nighty builds from Dec 4, 2018.   Andrew KK4ZUZ has brought this device to its knees under AREDN, before OpenWrt has support for this device.   Big hand to Andrew!    The specs can be found here:

https://www.tp-link.com/au/products/details/cat-37_CPE610.html

As always, please post feedback good and bad of your experience with this device.

Nanostation M2 XW low flash space

Forums:

Tried an update to daily 80-014217a on an NS M2 XW, reinstalled Tunnel, and it's back on the air ok.  I noticed free space for flash = 68K.  I don't recall what it might have shown before. iirc, this node went from 3.17RC1 thru a few dailies up to old 176. Not sure where it started as far as Air OS.  Could it be related to this https://www.arednmesh.org/content/bad-rocket-m5  ?

Nightly Build support for TP-Link CPE220 v2

Forums:

Nightly Build support for TP-Link CPE220 v2 has been added and should be available in the Nightly Build tomorrow.

NanoStation M5 Can't LogIn

Forums:
Even though I have no elevation and there's no one in my NW Harris Co TX area close enough to play with, I've been operating a NanoStation M2 with all the Nightly Builds with great success. I had communicated with a Rocket M2, both on the same property, until my HF station seems to have caused it to not work, reason unknown. Could be close proximity to the 80/40m inverted-V at 1500 watts even though the Rocket has a proper shield to ground. But I digress...

Any hope for a NanoStation2?

Forums:

A fellow ham, just getting interested in Mesh, went out on his own and thought he was getting a good deal on Ebay and bought a "NanoStation2" (not M2) running factory AirOS 3.5 - I was able to upload (tftp) AREDN Nanostation "factory" firmware but it got rejected as invalid at the end of several tries.

Is there any hope for this old NanoStation2 and AREDN?

If not, perhaps there should be a warning on the Supported Platforms page for this model and the similar Bullet HP so folks wouldn't keep trying to use them???

TIA,
- Don - AA7AU
