Ubiquiti air Router HP

Forums:

I have a  Ubiquiti air Router HP with firmware version XM v.5.6.2. I would like to flash AREDN on the ARHP. I understand I must downgrade to  v.5.5.?. I am confused which firmware I load to accomplish the downgrade because there are 2 listed.

Nanostation loco M5 (XW) - can not config nor recover

Forums:
Good day fellow hams. So as many the latest hardware is the newer XW, I used the code specific for the XW.  Firmware seemed to take just fine, now the LEDs on the back show power (green), ethernet activity (flashing green) and the FAR right LED is green.  Best I can tell this means all is normal, however when I change my NIC to DHCP I never receive an IP address from the NSM5 loco.

WIFI access

Forums:

I need some help with seting up a wifi access to the Aredn network. I have a Netgear GS105e setup with a WAN port. Not sure on how to setup up the access. It is a Ubiquiti Bullet2. Maybe this has been addressed and I'm looking in the wrong spot. Thanks for the help

Version 2 of CPE210 V2 incompatable with AREDN?

Forums:

So I just purchased the TP Link CPE210 off amazon and received hardware Version 2 of the device and  was unable to flash the stable version of the firmware. I got the message with both the current nightly firmware build and stable "hardware not support" error. Yes I shortened the file names on both attempts.

Loading Firmware on to PowerBeam M5 400-ISO

Forums:
What would be the best way to load firmware on to a PowerBeam M5 400-ISO?  Can I just take a nightly build (if so which one is best - I see a few posts saying I should use the Rocket firmware) and just TFTP it on to the node or do I need to downgrade to Air OS 5.6.15 then 5.5 and then upload the firmware via TFTP or the GUI?

I just want to make sure I don't brick the node.

Thank you,

Dave

My portable AREDN node

  1. NanoStation M5. ($82 from Amazon)
  2. Tripod with 18-foot Mast.
  3. 12-volt battery go box.
  4. DC POE injector ($9 from Amazon).
  5. Ubiquity airGateway ($23 from Amazon) for 'remote wifi connection to Windows, Mac, or iPad.
  6. Microsoft Surface Pro with Chrome web browser to talk to airGateway and Nanostation, MeshChat, Winlink Express for ptp email.

Ethernet cord is about 10 feet and station seems to be fine with 12-volt (instead of 24-volt Ubiquity spec).  Draws about 0.17 amps.  Doing longer term testing.

Second attempt with nanostation loco M5, no Ethernet problem

Forums:

Results with "clean" install on second brand new NanoStation loco M5 (XW):

1. Replace AirOS 6.06 with 5.6 via TFTP

2. Replace AirOS 5.6 with 5.5 via AirOS update

3. Replace AirOS 5.5 with AREDN-develop-176-8c5be0cf-ubnt-loco-m-xw-squashfs-factory.bin

==First, with AirOS upgrade ---> leads to dead Ethernet problem (no response to DHCP discovery)

==Then repeat with TFTP install ---> dead Ethernet again

I do get WiFi access through the "MeshNode" SSID.

Bricked and no IP address

Forums:
Hello All,
Well I finally bricked a unit.  Unfortunately it is a 3G Rocket.  I tried TFPT with no luck.  Angry IP IP Scanner and it shows no address.  I successfully counseled into the jtag port and the boot loader stops at booting...

From the terminal I entered the command  'urescue -f -e and received the response;
'boot loader overwrite mode'
'starting tftp server...'
'using eth0 (192.168.1.20), address: 0x81000000'
'waiting for connection:/\/\/\/'

Port mapping on AirRouter, 1 is DtD instead of 4

Forums:
Hi,
i set up two AirRouter with nightly build aredn-120-xxx.
Notebook on Lan Port 1 and M5 loco on Port 4 did not work.

Notebook gets a DHCP on Port 4 and Node is visible when connected on port 1.
So VLAN function seems to be switched.

Please change the picture under https://www.arednmesh.org/content/how-use-airrouter-ports if this behavior is intended.

Rocket M2 XW

Forums:
Hello, all...

is the Rocket M2 XW version supported (even on nightly builds) or only the M5?
The supported platform matrix mentions only the M5 as supported, and I don’t see a reason why wouldn’t the M2 be as well.

Thanks in advance
