Possible security issue with build 556

Forums:

I have build 556 on a hAP AC lite and I love the ability to turn off the RF mesh side on 2.4 Ghz.  It's also great that you can use either the 2.4 Ghz radio or the 5 Ghz radio as an access point.

However ....  after configuring the 5 Ghz radio as an AP on channel 149 the node is still advertising the SSID "MeshNode2G" as an unsecured network.  I can log on this network without a password and use the mesh as well as the wan side (which I am doing now to post this topic).

Tunnel setting changes cause nodes to stop responding

Forums:
Executive summary version:  Saving changes on Tunnel Client or Tunnel Server page results in node becoming unresponsive for a while (10 - 120 seconds).

Not a bug, but

Forums:
So, the AREDN alerts are working properly, but what's to be done with this:

AREDN Alert(s):
(QST): AREDN v3.20.3.0 has been released

When the node is running a nightly build more current than that?  Maybe add it as a second line ("Latest nightly build is xxxx")?

Issue with Nightly Build Firmware

Forums:
Hello,
to connect with the aredn tunnel server I have been requested to install a Nightly Build Firmware.
After some days of using the nightly Built Release "aredn-1601-d06bbaa-ath79-ubnt_bullet-m-sysupgrade.bin" I report the following problems:
A). I can’t connect to my node with http://localnode:8080 but only with the IP address. When I try to connect with "localnode:8080" I get this error message:
"not possible to find the IP address of the local node server. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN.".

Whoops! OLSR is not running, try again later.

Forums:

Hi Guys,

Recently updated to latest firmware, 3.18.9.0

Im receiving “Whoops! OLSR is not running, try again later.”

No nodes displayed.

The device is an AirRouter set to client tunnel mode, also linked via RF.

1. Tunnel client shows active connection
2. RF nodes are seeing the AirRouter
3. RF nodes cannot see anything past AirRouter
4. Have power cycled several times and waited a few hours... No change.

Any suggestions?

Unable to install tunnel FW on 3.20.3.1 on Rocket M5 XM

Forums:
Updated one of the Rocket M5 XM nodes from Nightly 1642 to 3.20.3.1.  The firmware update went perfectly.  Then tried to install tunnel software on the node.  I get:
ERROR:
Package update failed!

Tunnel software needs to be installed.

I have tried the tunnel install many times along with many reboots.  Same result.
At the suggestion of Eric - KG6WXC, I did a logread immediately after the install failed.  There was absolutely nothing in the log for the time involved.

OLSR Storm

Forums:
First I am going to define OLSR storm because that is not an official term, but it is being used here in Southern California.  What we call an OLSR storm is a condition where OLSR packets are being distributed in such a manner that it functionally crashes the mesh network.  The symptoms include that nodes can not be seen, or link qualities plummet network wide.  This specifically includes DtD links and tunnels - you know there is a problem when a DtD link shows a LQ of 10%!  Usually eventually the storm will subside by itself, but that can take several hours.  Manually breaking links (usually
