Equipment Recommendation for First Time Setup

Forums:

Hi, I wanted to ask for recommendations for my first node setup. I live in Concord, CA . My home is 6.69 miles away in straight line NZ6J-Kregor-Peak, 2.85 miles KI6LNB-NSM5, and 3.67 miles KN6QOX-PHill I have a mast on top of my garage roof that I like to install the 5.8 GHz Node, wanted to get advice I know there is  5.8 GHz chip shortage for Ubiquiti NanoStation M5 or Ubiquiti Rocket M5, I was looking at MikroTik RBSXTsq5HPnD or the RBLHG-5nD also my Mom and Dad home is  only 0.75 Miles away and like to have Node setup there also

RF Mesh Trouble?

Forums:
Hello dear Hams,

I have a phenomenon with several HAP AC and GL 300M nodes.
All devices use the same RF mesh channel and bandwidth.
Oddly enough, only the AC Lite and the GL300M connect to each other.
All nodes are only listed when I connect a GL to a Lan port.
Do I have a configuration error or a mistake in reasoning?

NanoStation M5 PoE questions

Forums:
Hi, everyone,

I have a couple of questions about the Nanostation M5 that's in the supported matrix (the XW that is linked to an Amazon page). Does the PoE passthrough work on the secondary port, and if so, how many volts does it provide? We are thinking about mounting a PTZ camera that requires 48 V via PoE on a tower and powering it through the passthrough on the Nanostation. I'm wanting to make sure it will work.

Thanks and have a great day. :)
Patrick.

Redo AREDN Firmware to hAP

Forums:

I tried to install AREDN on a MikroTik hAP.  Something went wrong at/after the press reset, add power, open  pxeserver and press online.  Opening the browser to 192.168.1.1 did not work/doesn ont send data.  How can I start over?
Thanks in advance.

Firmware failure

Forums:

My Ubiquiti Nanostation will not accept the new firmware.  I went to the administration page, and downloaded the latest firmware.  When it's done it I get an error msy saying it's not the correct version.  My hardware is: Ubiquiti Nanostation (ubnt(nanostation-m-xw).  The administration page lists my current firmware as version 3.22.8.0 when I chose the firmware listed on the download page it says it's nanostation-m-xw-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin.  After I chose that, it appears that it starts the install, but always fails with "incorrect version".

hAP AC Lite slow to boot

Forums:
I just flashed a new hAP AC Lite (RB952Ui-5ac2nD) with 3.22.12.0 but it takes an exceptionally long time to boot up, more than 5 minutes.  Is this expected behavior for this device, or should it boot faster than that?  I also have a RBLHG-5nD with 3.22.12.0 that boots up in less than a minute.
I've attached the support file for the hAP AC Lite (though dmesg looks like it only takes ~30sec from kernel start to link up, I'm not sure what's happening before that...is there a UART console available on these?

Backup node settings

Forums:

I want to backup/export the settings on an AREDN-Node to be able to restore/import them in case the node has to be set up new. How can I do this?

Thanks for any help, Markus.

AC Equipment

Forums:
Any chance there is some firmware under development for the AC 2.4 and 5 GHz Ubiquiti equipment?  I've got an NBE-5AC-16 on-hand that I'd like to put to work and there is actually some AC gear in stock.

Cheers,

Nightly for NanoBridge 5G25?

Forums:
I know the nightlys' now are using OpenWRT release, version 22.03.2 and that some older 32MB Ram devices like the NanoBridge 5G25 are being sunsetted.
Has the sun set on these devices yet?  Or does this OpenWRT release, version 22.03.2 nightly still work on these devices but has not been tested?

If the nightly will still work, I'd like to try it on my NanoBridge, but don't know what nightly file to use.  If sunsetted, then I'll just continue to use the last stable release.

Thanks
Bob
