Bullet fails as access point

Forums:
As part of a larger ham project, I have 2 ubiquiti bullet wifi units.  W8ERD-WiFi2 and W8ERD-Wifi3.
Both are set to be access points. No other connections. Only one on  the air at a time.  3 is newer and 2 is older.

If I try to connect to 2 from iphones (4S), they say “cannot connect to W8ERD-WIFI2”

If I try to connect to 3 from iphones, they never connect and just show a spinning wheel.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

ub NSM5 rear indicator lights on mesh

Forums:
Hi all,

I have a ubiquiti nano station m5 (NSM5) on arden 5g freqs, the lights on the back mean one thing in factory non aredn land but what do they mean in on aredn? I soon to take it out in the field to test a connection to another site so I would be keen to know if one means I have a link rather than hauling my laptop out.

TPlLink 220 V2 and3

Forums:
Group,

I have 2 TP-Link 220 devices. One of them is a Version 2 and the other is a version 3. I have a couple of 210's that I have done with success. Has anyone in the group run into any issues with the 220s? I had a unique instance with the new rocket M2 and was able to work through that. I'm curious if these need a similar resolve.

Thanks!

NanoStationlocoM5 issues

Forums:

Colleagues,

I've attempted to get a Ubiquti NanoStation loco M5 device working as an AREDN node and have been having some problems. The NanoStation is brand new and has a test date of 09/25/2019. The situation is:

hAP ac lite hardware quirks

Forums:
N2MH and I have both observed odd behavior with the hAP ac lite when using a 12v battery power supply.   Specifically, it has been observed at times, if using the device on 5MHz channels and with a  12v Power Supply, it  does not make a link.    However, swapping to a 24v power supply it it is linking to other 2GHz mesh devices on 5MHz channel.    Keep an eye out for any any weirdness and if you are using a 12v supply, swap to a 24v to see if any change of behavior.

Cradlepoint MBR95?

Forums:
I was given an old MBR95. It has 32 MB of Ram and 16 MB flash. It's 2.4 GHz only, but I wonder if it might be compatible with any existing AREDN firmware.

It's been EOL'd, so if there isn't a compatible firmware, it's probably not worth developing unless there are hardware compatibilities with currently available devices, like their AER1600. I kind of doubt there would be a lot of similar hardware inside though, the capabilities look pretty different.

DTD Link

Forums:
Good Morning Group,

I ran into a new hiccup the other day. At one of our user sites we are using a GLI-750 as a in shack node connected to a rooftop Ubiquity M2 Rocket. We have always set these up in the following configuration and not had a problem. We have the users local internet going to the WAN port of the GLI-750. The LAN port goes to an unmanaged switch for device access and the center port goes directly to the second rooftop node in the DTD configuration.

Low free flash memory concern? M2/M5 Rocket/PBE-M5

Forums:
Good morning. I just configured a new PBE-M5-620 and noticed that the free flash memory was low. None of these nodes are running anything other than the lastest stable release of AREDN firmware, 3.20.3.1. Looking around the mesh a little, it looks like most similar nodes are in the same boat.

/tmp: 29932 KB

Then I checked my Rockets and there pretty close to the same:

How to select a radio for AREDN mesh networking

Forums:

Just posted this YouTube video showing one way to make decisions about the best radio option to meet a specific need in mesh networking.  Hope it's helpful.  THX

Could AREDN work on this?

Forums:
http://wiki.wrtnode.cc/index.php?title=WRTnode2R%E8%AF%A6%E7%BB%86%E5%8F... It's inexpensive and easily expandable. If it can be done it could open up a lot of interesting options.
