Far out and XM vs XW

Forums:

New to mesh and trying to sort through compatibility for my far- out QTH. Our club is just getting started, but it looks like I will be 5-10 miles from the closest likely (non-tunneled) node. It seems like I should be looking at 5.8 due to the distance.  I’m pretty high and lots of farmlands but trees nearby which may impinge on fresnel. Club members closer together looking at 2.4 so I would have to rely on my closest contact being willing to put up both 5.8 for me and 2.4 for locals. The compatibility chart shows that the Nanostation is good for 5.8 whether it is XM or XW.

Unbricking a Node by KD4RSX

Forums:
How to unbrick a Node when you see no IP address from the Node and AREDN U-Boot Test gives you error message when you Ping.

Things to look for on your Node AFTER you take it out of its case.
You need to look for the 4 pin Cmos Connection. (On my NanoBeam M2 I had to solder pins in the holes. Yes, I know, NanoBeam not supported but I unbricked it too.)
You need to find what pin is Ground with a continuity checker.

Rocket M5 Titanium XW

Forums:

Gents, I know the Rocket M5 Titanium XW is listed as "No compatibility or support".

However, I was able to install RC 17.1.0 Rocket M5 XW software on the one I have (date code 1408G) without any issues and it appears to function correctly with the exception of couple of small glitches. The glitches include TxPower settings reverting back to 22dbm (when set to 27dbm) and Channel setting showing only frequencies without the actual channel numbers.

Nanobridge dish interchangability?

Forums:
I bought a 5 pack of used Nanobridge M2's a while back.  Now I see some cheap Nanobridge M5 "feedhorn only" offers on ebay.

Anyone know if the M2 and M5 might snap-in to the same dish?

Ubiquiti Rocket M5 Fails to Accept AREDN 3.16.1.1

Forums:
AREDN gurus, this newby is stuck. So I'm attempting to flash a Rocket M5 -- my third experience in doing this (it does get easier). The unit accepted the downgrade to AirOS to 5.5.10, and the U-Boot test gave me two GREENs. All is well. I call up the file AREDN-3.16.1.1-ubnt-rocket-m-squashfs-factory.bin and upload to AirOS, which returns an error message: "Firmware image check failed. Error Code -6"  I re-downloaded the files several times -- same result. I even re-flashed the unit back up to 5.6 and then flashed again downgrading to 5.5. Same result. Any guesses please?

Nodes for sale

Forums:

I have for sale the following equipment:

1. One Ubiquiti airRouter AR flashed with 3.16.1.1 firmware.

2. One Ubiquiti airRouter AR flashed with develop-169-dlb-d14f3  firmware.

3. One Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 (XM) flashed with 3.16.1.1 firmware.

4. One Ubiquiti Nanostation M5  flashed with develop-169-dlb-d14f3  firmware.  This one was working OK, but for reasons unknown it is no longer accessible.  Hardware seems OK, so I assume it is the software.

Each of the above is used, has not been installed outdoors, and comes with OEM power supplies.

Rocket M5 upload grayed out

Forums:
After successful install of nightly build (develop-171-69937359), to a Rocket M5 XW, no upload buttons are available.
