Cat5 Wire Choices for Commercial Tower Install

Forums:

We are about to install a MIMO Omni /Rocket node at the 225 foot level of a commercial tower.  Our access to this tower is limited; hence we seek an install that will minimize the need for future on-tower repairs.  We are pondering the best wire to use in this application, and would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

How do I do this? (balloon tethered node)

Forums:

Here is your Christmas brain teaser.

1. Deploy a self contained mesh node.
2. Battery life of 5 days.
3. IP67 rated.
4. Tethered to a balloon at around 300 feet. A few square miles of reliable coverage.
5. Got to work without problems.

Looking to create a system to cover a large area for a few days similar to the Rajant system but for a tenth of the price. I have already sussed out the supporting platform but I need a simple (haha) system probably based on a Bullet.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Eddy.

Node LAN to Home LAN Connectivity

Forums:

Referring to the below image.

Devices within the mesh network 10.9.177.x can see/access devices within the 172.22.18.x. However, devices within the 172.22.18.x cannot see/access devices within the 10.9.177.x. I know its a routing issue.

Is there a way to set up routing so that devices within the 172.22.18.x can see/access devices within the 10.9.177.x without using port forwarding?

Hardware selection

Forums:

I'm rather ignorant so forgive me if this is obvious and I just don't see it. I am at the northern end of the local mesh and I would like to add my QTH to it. I'm looking for AP hardware that will allow me to connect to the mesh (I suspect with a gain antenna - yagi/parabola) and then use an omnidirectional antenna for local broader coverage that would allow others to extend beyond me. Preferably with the fewest number of pieces and using PoE Ethernet cable for power. Is there a dual port AP that will work like this or do I need 2 APs.

Dual Band MIMO Sector Antenna

Forums:

I spotted this antenna from ITElite.  It's the PRO-SEC-XL24/50DP.    It's a dual band (2.4/5.8 GHz) MIMO Sector antenna.  The product info is here.
The antenna has an internal space for radios.  That model is for two Mikrotik Routerboards.   I inquired about space for Ubiquiti Rockets and  they informed me that yes, they have a model that will house two Rockets internally.  The model number for that version is PRO-SEC-XL24/50DP-u

AirRouter HP

Forums:
I would like to buy the AR-HP on Amazon because it will be cheaper but im not sure if I can do this because of worries about which HW version ill get. Heres my question: Does having XW version hardware or a too new AirOS version matter with the Airrouter HP?
