Acquisition of IP Address

Forums:
I am trying to attach an IP Cam to my AREDN Nano node. I have read many instructions and watched many videos, but have never been able to get the node to recognize the camera IP address. How do you do that?  Is it supposed to be automatic when attaching the camera? I know the camera IP address but find nowhere to input it AREDN setup page.
Any help appreciated.

CPE510: Separate WAN and LAN port

Forums:
Hello,
just installed my first AREDN node on a CPE510.
I got LAN on both ethernet interfaces untagged (and as I understand the documentation, didn't test, WAN on both interfaces tagged as VLAN 1).
Is there a way to get LAN untagged on one of the interfaces and WAN untagged on the other?
Thanks in advance.

Unable to flash firmware GL-AR750S

Forums:
I am looking into connecting and I have unsuccessfully tried to flash GL-iNet GL-AR750S-EXT. I used the GL-AR750 sysupgrade but it only ends up continuously rebooting and I can't get a stable IP from it. I was able to reload GL firmware and backup, so it didn't fully brick. Is the GL-750 not compatible?

Flashing a Mikrotik Basebox5

I was able to flash my hap lite's, but now i am trying to do the same with a basebox 5.  Is the process different?  I am not having any success doing it the same as with the hap lite.  Yes, I have the .elf file for the basebox 5 from this site.  Thx! 73, Adrian VE7NZ

Getting disconnected when updating settings

Forums:
I have flashed and updated a Basebox 5.  But when I try to make changes to things like the channel number, call sign, etc in the Setup menu, as soon as i hit "Save" I get a 404 like error where the browser says "This Site Can't Be Reached.  Connection Reset" - i am disconnected from the Basebox.  I am using DHCP with a laptop connected to the Basebox 5, nothing else is involved.  I can then go to local node.local.mesh (roughly correct syntax going from memory) but any attempt to save a change doesn't work and I get booted out.

Limiting WAN access

Forums:
I have setup a test link between two nodes in my basement and as an experiment was able to provide access to the web via one of the node's WAN ports on a Microtik ac HAP lite.  My concern is that if I set this up on the mesh then perhaps it presents an open WAN channel to all nodes which could be an issue regulatory and bandwidth wise.

Is there a way to limit such a WAN gateway so that only a specific remote node can use the feature?

Thx Adrian VE7NZ

Decals (or keeping your link antenna paint free)

Forums:
Anyone have a source for weather resistant decals that read:

        Active Antenna
Do not paint, cover, or block

Hopefully the same size and fonts as the standard AREDN decal in the store

MikroTik-LHG-XL Models

Forums:
I'm interested in getting a dish type node to connect to a hilltop about 4 miles away from me.

Looking at AREDN's Support Platform Matrix, I see that the MikroTik RBLHG-5HPnD-XL is supported.

Shopping online, I also see a MikroTik product called the RBLHGG-5acD-XL.

Painting a sector antenna

Forums:
So here is a very low tech question, no electronics or firmware updates required.    We are considering the option to place remote solar powered nodes in a variety of out of the way, high elevation locations.   As part of that we would like to employ 'security through obscurity' by, as much as possible, not calling any attention to the installation.    Hence the desire to 'camoflage' the antennas which would likely be the most visible part.   The antenna could be on a pole or attached to the trunk of a tree.   I would assume any paint which does not have a metallic content would be transparent
