If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Forums:

Hi Folks;

I currently have two Nanostation M2's, both with AREDN loads on them.  I have NO idea what kind of M2's these are (XM, XW, Loco, other?).

One reports that the AREDN version is 3.16.1.1, the other shows 620-13a6afb.  They do 'see' each other on the mesh status page, though one is by the node name and the other only by IP address.  I can connect from one to the other and see each others' status page so they're communicating on some level.  I haven't yet tried to transfer any data between them (IP cam, et al).

Ubiquiti rocket M5 - waterproof, how critical is the protective shroud?

Forums:
Hi guys

I have a ubiquiti rocket m5 connected to a AM-5G19 sector antenna. The "protective shroud" is missing on this antenna. Would you consider that as critical for using the antenna outside, or would you say that the rocket itself is waterproof? (according to ubiquiti support, the shrouds are not available as spare parts).

Unable to save change to NAT mode with 3.22.8.0

Forums:

I have a MikroTik LHG XL HP5 that I flashed some while ago and set up in NAT mode.  A change in LAN routers required changing the IP addresses for the device and the gateway.  There was no problem in doing that.  The firmware version originally used to flash the device was aredn-3.20.3.0-ar71xx-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16M-sysupgrade.

NanoStation M5 - airMAX/WiFi?

Forums:
Hi
Just flashed a NanoStation M5 with AREDN. Couple of questions about the hardware, if anyone is familiar:

1. Once configured via wired connection, would I expect to be able to see the mesh SSID as a visible WiFi network from another device, eg a smartphone? Because I don't. I wonder whether this is because the NanoStation M5 is airMAX, rather than standards-compliant WiFi, and normally used for point to point links with other airMAX gear?

Ubiquiti XM vs XW difference?

Forums:
On the SW compatibility page there are Ubiquiti XM and XW models listed. My guess is that the XW models are more recent and have more memory etc. How can I tell the difference when shopping on Amazon, EBay, etc, since Ubiquiti doesn't seem to use this nomenclature?

AR300 Problem

Forums:
The AR300 is advertised to support POE.  I have applied 5V POE to both of the ethernet ports
and nothing lights up.  Is the ad wrong?

Bullet vs DHCP

Forums:
I have a bullet with dhcp turned on. I want to turn it off.
If I uncheck "dchp server" and then "save changes", the screen goes to a message saying "This site can't be reached".
If I click return, it goes back to where it was before I unclicked "dhcp server", and "dhcp server is still checked.

How do I turn off dhcp?

PBX extension registration over mesh

Forums:
I am unable to get my PBX to register an extension over the mesh. See the diagram for my setup.
If I remove the mesh link, the registration works fine.  All the components work fine individually.
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?

LiteBeam M5 - inovato Quadra - Android Phone

Forums:
I can access my LiteBeam M5 using an inovato Quadra (running Armbian) via the Firefox browser.
The M5 connects via a five port tp-link switch to the Quadra LAN port.
If the wifi/bluetooth USB nic is installed - the connection to the M5 is broken.
I have NOMACHINE on my Android phone and the Quadra - so the phone acts as monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Is there any way to overcome the broken connection to the M5 when the Wifi/BT USB nic is installed?
Sure would be nice to not have to carry around a 10" monitor and a keyboard/trackpad.
Thanks
