TP-Link CPE610 - Low Power

Forums:

I just purchased a tp-link cpe 610, and flashed it with the latest firmware.  Everything went very well with the flashing.  Unfortunately, I can only push the power up to 15dbm which I believe is only around 30mw.  The version I have is 1.  Am I missing something?  I thought these things were upwards of 27dbm?

Thanks,

DRONE-VIDEO

Forums:
I have in my possession a smaller drone made by HolyStone.  I was wondering if anyone had experience using the onboard cameras built into some of these lower end drones to do RTSP to the mesh?  Famous last words "Is it possible?", and of course the answer is, anything is possible if you throw enough money at it.  I'm trying to work with what I currently have.  Anyone??  I've watched some videos of people using drones larger than I have to actually send RF over a pretty large area.  I'm still in the beginning stages of understanding networking, but I think this would be a really cool project IF

M5-GPS

Forums:

The node I flashed today is an XM version of the Rocket M5-GPS.  It went well except the displayed range of transmit frequencies is wrong (too low). It reports my other 5 GHz node as being on channel 180 - which is correct,

When selected an operating frequency about 5 channels down from the top of the available list, the other reported that the M5-GPS was operating on channel 3460 (if I remember).  So I powered it down.

UBNT loads the same firmware into the GPS and non-GPS versions.  I guess that is not true of AREDN?

Ubiquity Lite beam M5 no nodes in scan

Forums:
I have a Ubiquiti Litebeam M5 when unboxed saw hundreds of nodes.
I flashed it and put it up on a 30 foot tower. Now i see nothing in a scan.

How may i fix this.

split MIMO

Forums:

As an interim measure, where we want two directional antennas, pointing in different directions on 2.4 (on the same channel) that we could connect one "chain" of the radio (M2) to one of the inputs on a MIMO antenna and the other chain of the radio to a single-polarity antenna pointing in the other direction.

The idea is that, later, the node would be converted to two-frequency operation using MIMO in both directions.

Tp-link CPE510(EU) v1.1 reboots to pharos after TFTP download

Forums:
Hi, I am trying to get AREDN firmware onto a couple of CPE510 units but after TFTP transfer completes and the Unit restarts it is still running Pharos. I have tried stable and nightly. Can anyone suggest where I might be going wrong? My next step will to be to fit a header and try the serial interface. Thanks & 73 Ellis G7SAI

Limit MCS on radio

Forums:

I am referencing a past post:
Manual MCS control? | Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (arednmesh.org)

Does anyone know if the suggestion to add a addition as follows will still work?  I have been spending considerable time trying to understand why some of our nodes(ALL RF)  are having some throughput issues.  RF nodes shooting through some trees  are subjected to varying signals and it would be interesting to see if limiting the speed to create a more reliable, but slower connection.

Lhgxl vs ldf with .7 meter dish

Forums:
Hi all. I have a lhgxl 5g and a ldf with a 1 meter dish. After... Looking at it for a minute, there is simply no way to safely secure this dish at a location where it can see the node I'm trying to hit. I put up the lhgxl, but it really needs a bit more gain. In my brain bigger dish equals more gain, but on paper it seems that might not be the case with the ldf: Lhgxl 5g says 28dBm and 27dBi of gain. The ldf says 25dBm and with a 1 meter dish it can achieve up to 33dBi of gain. So with a .7 meter dish, it doesn't seem like I would see a substantial improvement. Am I missing something?

Background noise of MikroTik LDF 2

Forums:
Hello,
a recently flashed MikroTik LDF 2, mounted on a 35 cm offset dish, shows the following parameters:  Signal/Noise/Ratio
-80 / -88 / 8 dB
Why that bad background noise and how to improve it, if possible?
Thanks for any help
