Decentralized LAN Messaging over mesh?

Hi all,

I had a thought that I havent seen discussed here.  At work I use a program called Softros, which is just on offline messaging and file sharing app.  It works well, and requires no server for use. It simply auto-discovers other clients on the LAN.  I am curious if anyone else uses this or a similar program over the mesh. It seems to me to be useful in a different way than MeshChat for example.  Any thoughts?

meshchat v1.01 testing help needed

Fixes:

Alphabetical file list
File list column width changes
Fixes for long channel names
An attempt at stretch support. If someone has a pi to try this on that would be great.

To install on a PI:

copy file to your pi
dpkg -i /home/pi/meshchat_1.01_all.deb

You may be prompted if you want to keep your config, in most cases you want to keep your local config. Just check that mechschatconfig.pm has what you want in it after install.

Files:

TicketsCAD

Since the domain name for TicketsCAD is having problems the best source for info about Tickets can be found at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/open-source-cad

From there you can obtain all the installs, linke to GitHub, and user discussions.

What applications do you usually deploy?

Hi all, I'm currently configuring a portable AREDN server to be included in my go-box, and I'm just asking me, what kind of software do you usally deploy.

This is my currently desployment:

Run a Forum for Raspberry Pi

Recently loaded a phpBB forum on a raspberry pi 4 to run on our local mesh. Here's a video on how to install it.

Next Project

Now that mesh chat is almost out of beta I'm trying to decide what my next project should be. Here are some ideas I have. If you like one in particular please post your vote, or if you have another idea please post that also.

IP Cam
Web app based on the VLC web plugin. This will have a db of all the RTSP capable ip cams on your mesh and you can easily see and possibly control them all from one web app. No more using the VLC desktop app and everyone needs to enter the rtsp url's manually. All consolidated and accessible from one easy to use web app.

iperfspeed v0.3

EDIT: See new version being discussed here: https://www.arednmesh.org/content/ver-59-da089ac-and-iperfspeed

Thanks to KE2N for the regex fix in this version.

MeshChat won't go away

I installed MeshChat on two nodes about six months ago, tinkered with it for a while, and deleted it.  The advertised services won't go away on one node, though.  It continues to advertise MeshChat even though it isn't actually there.  Any thoughts about how to kill this zombie?  (The node is a Rocket M5 running the latest firmware.)

Thanks.  Mike

FreeTAK/ATAK/WinTAK

FreeTAK, ATAK and WinTAK are now available. Roger H (KK6LZB) and I are working on deploying it here in Orange county, CA.

It's pretty full-featured, and has a military/DoD pedigree. Read up on it if you're interested, and lets compare notes to bring this potentially valuable EOC software platform to the mesh.
