Bad Rocket M5?

Forums:

I purchased a box of used 10 Rocket M5s from eBay.  Only one was an XW and the rest XM, so score so far.  I'll just keep the XW for a survey node.

One of the nodes appears to have a flash issue.  I was able to put 3.16.1.0 on it.  When I try to set the node name, password, and distance, I get an error when saving.  Looking at the initial page I see Flash shows 0kb free.  When I compare to other nodes, they have 2mb+ Flash free.

AirRouter HP

Forums:
Is it possible to provide a wan connection to the AirRouter HP without a VLAN switch? the AirRouter works great via the WAN port but on the HP where there is no WAN port do I have to use a switch to accomplish the task?

Error Flashing a Nanostation Loco M2

Forums:
Okay guys,

I am relatively new to Mesh. I have successfully flashed a Rocket M2 recently.

I ran the boot test and got a GOOD-GOOD message. I then attempted to flash the Nano with the AREDN software. After it was complete, the nano is unresponsive and not able to be accessed.

I have tried the recovery method and the nano does go into Recovery mode, but when I tried to upload the firmware, I get a 'server error'.

Can't get to setup

Forums:
So, I renamed two nanostations. One went fine after asking me to reboot. The screen on the other never refreshed to ask me to reboot. So I removed power then reapplied power.

The node came back up with the new name but now it won't let me into the setup. When I click the setup button the browser displays at the bottom this message: "Looking up cdn.leafletjs.com" then "Connecting to cdn.leafletjs.com" then back to "Looking up cdn.leafletjs.com" and just hangs. Of course it will never get to "cdn.leafletjs.com" since it is not connected to the internet.

OLSR Restarts

Forums:
I have an AirRouter running 3.16.1 and am seeing an increased number of OSLR restarts on the home page. Any ideas on this?

Update to Compatability List?

Forums:

Is there an update to the compatibility list?
I don't want to start a project with outdated equipment and need some flexibility on models and I do not want to take the risk a device marked "Researching" (Yellow) may turn ORANGE or RED.

That said:
The Rocket M series would provide us spares flexibility as one radio could be used as a spare for PtP, PtMP/Access Point.
But the supported XM based Rocket has not been manufactured since April 2015 (year and a half+).

UBNT Bootloader/Firmware Version ID after AREDN install?

Forums:
Is there a way to determine what underlying UBNT Firmware is/was on a node before AREDN was installed on a node that currently has AREDN Firmware running?

dtd linking with non-vlan switch

Forums:

Hello,

On http://www.aredn.org/content/device-device-linking-dtdlink, for linking three devices with a non-vlan switch, the graphic shows two of the nodes labeled in ref "DHCP: DISABLED" but at the bottom of the graphic it says "CAUTION: Do not disable DHCP on all nodes".

WAN IP Address

Forums:
I have a Toughswitch 5 configured for three DtD nodes, 1 lan, and one WAN. Port 1 has a nanostation M2 XM as a WAN Gateway, Port 2 is LAN for port 1 with a Raspberry PI running Asterisk attached. Port 3 has a Nanobridge M5 attached, Port 4 is an AR with two webservers, VOiP phone, AP, and a couple Raspberry Pis attached. This node is configured for 13 DHCP addresses. Port 5 is my WAN port.

POE

Forums:
I want to run my nanostation from a battery supply for portable use. I see from the documentation that it uses passive POE and should be happy with 10.5 through to 25Vdc at the port, so as long as the ethernet lead is short I should be able to poke 12v up the right wires and all should work. I wonder if there is a preferred way to do this more elegantly. Is a current limiting circuit recommended? or is a 1A fuse protection enough? I wonder what others have done and are there any good or more importantly bad experiences with this.

Regards
David
