TP-Link CPE210/510

Forums:

Has anyone tried out the TP-Link CPE210 and/or CPE510 with new AREDN firmware?

Quick view of CPE210 shows it to be very similar to NanoStation Loco M2. Some differences
noted are higher TX power (27dBm max.v 24dBm), beamwidth differences, and power requirement
(16v-27vdc versus 10.5v-25v). They list power comsumption as 10.5W max which seems high
compared to Loco M2. Downside is they can't run directly from 12-14vdc

At our end there is no push to move away from Ubiquiti; it is great equipment, though
it's good to have alternatives.

Supported Platform Matrix

Forums:

Is the Supported Platform Matrix on the website up to date for the models that are available and supported?

How do I tell if a router is XM or XW when buying one?  Also do international editions have both XM or XW or just one of them?

Has anyone tested the Chinese Routers made by KuWfi and others that can be acquired for about $50 US or less. http://www.hxfsunrise.com/html_products/300Mbps-Wireless-Outdoor-CPE-135.html

Hardware question

Forums:
I just noticed that an NSM2 loco identifies itself (with the current released firmware) as a "Ubiquiti Bullet M"

Is that correct?

Ubiquiti 5.6, U-Boot Test, and MacOS

Forums:

Hello,

I'm new to AREDN, attempting to get involved with the local CERT comm group who are starting to deploy it. i have purchased a new Ubiquiti NSM2. I see the warnings about firmware 5.6 at http://www.aredn.org/content/software.

I have fired up the AirOS firmware to look around, and from the Main page I see I have v5.6.2 (XM). So I know that at a minimum I should downgrade to AirOS 5.5.x before installing the AREDN firmware.

M9 salvageable?

Forums:
Plugged a cat 5 cable into a Nanobridge M9 and the status lights started dancing all over. Tested the cable to find wires 3 &5 were crossed. (Yes,  I did this out of order). Replaced the cable and was not able to connect to the m9. Can ping it. Was able to get into recovery mode and reinstall the software successfully. Still can't connect to it with the browser. LAN adapter shows an unidentified network. So did that +24v send the m9 to the junk pile or is it salvageable?

is the NanoBridge M2-22 supported?

Forums:
I am looking at buying a bulk lot of nanobridge m2-22 nodes, but I am wondering if those are supported under the AREDN firmware?  thanks

Rocket Antenna Port Questions

Forums:

Hello everyone,

I have done a fair amount of experimenting with the Bullet M5 devices over the past couple years and I am getting ready to work with a Rocket M9 using a single omni-directional antenna. Unlike the Bullets, the Rocket has two antenna ports.

If I am only going to use one of them, should I do anything with the other one?

Should I be using one rather than the other?

Is there a configuration setting somewhere that I need to pay attention to?

RFI from a M900 900MHz node into computer speakers

Forums:
Just a quick mention that I found and fixed some RFI from a 900MHz Ubiquiti node getting into an amplified computer speaker system located about 1 meter away from it.  Sounded like a buzzing "digital" noise, as that is want it was...   Seems the node makes short bursts of transmissions as it looks for neighbors.  Ferrite cores on the speaker leads didn't do that much, moving the node some did.  I could see the directivity of the M900 as I rotated it (the buzz would get louder and fainter).  Noise is gone as I have the speakers located in the node's null.

M900 Question

Forums:

I looked around and first and found no answers. I just got a pair of M900 to do some 900mhz testing. There are 2 antenna ports on the top but no reference to them in the software. Can you use just one of these and terminate the other ? They are marked Chain0 & Chain1

NanoBridge M5 issue

Forums:
Hi all, I am setting up a mesh with several rockets, nanostations and bullets and everything works nicely  :)

I got an existing nanobridge M5 previously used as a ptp and loaded the AREDN SW ... the  setup is OK but when going to the mesh status I just get it in the mesh but I am unable to connect to it :  I just get LQ=100 and NLQ=0

Could anybody give me any hint trying to figureout what is happening and how to fix this issue ?

Thanks in advance....

Mike
