For those in the Lompoc Valley, Santa Maria/Orcutt Valley and 5-Cities, there are new high level 5 GHz sector nodes covering these areas. The Lompoc node is at 1550' Gravel Peak looking north. The Santa Maria/Orcutt node is at Orcutt/Newlove Hill looking north. A yet to be linked test NSM5 node looking NW has also been set up in North Santa Maria on a 7 story building. Pismo Heights (SLO County) now has a sector looking south. Next efforts are RF linking north to SLO county in addition to RF linking SE via Santa Ynez Or Broadcast Peak.
I'm going to be doing an AREDN display for my club's Field Day event on June 25-26. I would like to have an AREDN banner for the display. Can anyone tell me how I can get an AREDN banner that is maybe 6' x 3'. I tried looking at the AREDN store but it's currently down (it says it's moving to a new site) and I'm not sure something like a banner would be in the store anyway. Any suggestions would be appreciated. John, KM6ZJT
Hey All, I learned about AREDN while I was at Scale 19x Seems like a pretty neat project, so I ordered myself some hardware:
Hello, I'm new to AREDN and looking to setup a node in Albany, CA. I have AREDN firmware installed on a mikrotik hAP ac lite, so looking for information to connect as a tunnel client. Also have a Nanostation M5 that I'd like to setup as a node if I can find LOS in my area. Thanks in advance for help! Best, Jeff KM6LFY
Hi from W9NOP, I'm trying to connect to AREDN from my rustic cabin in a steep canyon on Mt. Baldy with a wood burning store and an outhouse. According to iPhone Compass: 34 degrees 15' and 24" N. 117 degrees 38' and 18" W 5,500 feet elevation. I've looked at an AREDN map and it appears I'll be shooting down the Mt. Baldy canyon into Los Angeles County; not San Bernardino or Riverside County. I'm understanding that I should use 5.8 GHz and a dish with a range of about 30 miles.
Greetings, I just signed up. Brand new to AREDN. No equipment yet. Just reading and learning at the moment, but I'm thinking about picking up a Mikrotik RBLHG-5nD, since the price is reasonable and I don't want to commit a bunch of money at the moment. I'm in Studio City. I have a clear view of both Mt. Wilson and Verdugo peak. Verdugo is closer by several miles. Are there different services available on each? Should I just pick based on distance and signal strength? Thanks
