Link Margin, airLink, the Ubiquiti Community Forums and a headache

Link Margin is no longer a mystery - it is currently surfacing as possibly something more sinister; a manufacturer's term of art.
A standard Google search for the phrase inundates you with fairly consistent descriptions of what it is and how to calculate if from other receiver specifications that would e expected on a 'Data Sheet'.

So, you realize you want to buy 'XM' and not 'XW, ' what next?

I'm waiting for a call back from a very helpful person at Flytec who offered to go look at what they have in stock and if necessary light up one of each freq NS loco up to see if they are 'XM' or not.

Apparently since Ubiquiti stopped indicating whether they are 'XM' or 'XW' on the  retail package labeling that is the only way to be sure.

Is anyone able to comment on AREDN intent, re:  code modification,  if necessary, to ensure  an 'XW' only supply stream will not limit growth?

Is Solar Sourced 802.3af POE or Passive POE practical?

Has anyone successfully supported remote, stand alone IP POE powered Cameras with inherent 802.11b/g/n wifi capability from small'ish solar systems?

My immediate conceptual challenge is to determine if  802.11af or passive poe sourced from nominal 12V batteries will work, and if so, within what parameters.

New Install - Where to point Antenna Oso or Bullion NanoBridge M5

Hi, I am in Turlock and just setting up my antenna.  Pointing to Oso might be a better, but heard it might not be working right now?  Any suggestion would be helpful.

Expansion plans?

What are the current plans to expand the network north and south? I recall that there were plans to hop from Bullion to Deadwood, then to Meadow Lakes with a possible hop across the Valley to Panoche or Joaquin Ridge.
