TPLINK CPE510 Hardware not supported!

Forums:

Hi

Seem to be having a Hardware issue, CPE210 worked just fine, however I received the TPLINK CPE510 v1.1 on firmware 1.3.0 this morning and I get the message 'The Hardware is not supported' when I try to upload AREDN firmware via the Firmware upload section.

Any ideas on the problem here, thanks in advance.

Hardware is TPLINK CPE v1.1 and the installed firmware was 1.3.0
ATTEMPTED: Tried to roll back firmware to v1.2.1 still will not take AREDN firmware 'The Hardware is not supported.'

Netgear GS108Ev3 as vlan separator and switch

As per the instructions at http://www.aredn.org/content/configuring-netgear-gs105e-switch-lanwan-ports I configured a GS108Ev3 as a combo Ubiquity node LAN/WAN splitter and also as a switch on the WAN side.  Where I located this box I needed a few ethernet ports switched off the input WAN (connects to my main switch and router and in turn the cable modem) which would feed a couple computers not involved with AREDN.  One port is for the Bullet, 2 ports are the Bullet's LAN, and the rest are WANs.  The WANs

Failure to obtain DHCP lease from Rocket M3

Forums:
I have a brand new, out of the box, Rocket M3, that I am unable to obtain a DHCP lease from.

1. I have tried two different laptops.
     a. Windows 7, newly staged.
     b. Xubuntu 14.04
     c. Both laptops can obtain a lease from my local
 network.
2. I have tried three different power supplies.

3. I have tried several different cables, tested of course.

4. I even tried another factory firmware flashed Ubiquity device. Same issue.

I've done dozen's of these devices in the AREDN space and this stumps me.

While Shopping at MicroCenter ....

Forums:

While shopping at MicroCenter, some hardware caught my eye. An "AMPED" brand with a piece of hardware that looks suspiciously like a Nano Station.

Don't know if this is any good and probably don't want to use it considering its source. But, I thought it was interesting.

Flash failure on NS M5

Forums:

So I bought a brand new NanoStation M5 and has the board and firmware XW 5.6xxx. I flashed it over to XW.v5.5.10-u2.28005.150723.1358 and all went well. Then flashed it to AREDN-3.16.1.0-ubnt-nano-m-xw-squashfs-factory. This also went ok, but now I can't get into the web ui to set it up. Yes I did change the computer over to receive IP automatically, using the right port on NanoStation.

What I did with my old HSMM Linksys node since I upgraded

Forums:

Now that I have Ubiquity nodes up and running, I took my old Linksys's out of service.  As they can't do channel -2.  Okay, what to do with the Linksys's?  Tried to convert one (a version 2 WRT54G)  to become OpenWRT, no go.  DDwrt?  no go.  Okay, back to Linksys firmware, still no go...   Probably a step I don't know about smiley  Looked, but didn't find anything.

Access WLAN without switch

The motherboard in my Windows 7 PC came equipped with dual Realtek gigabit NIC's and I read in another forum where these can be configured to handle VLAN tagging. (Some Intel and Broadcom chipsets can also handle tagged frames.) The configuration consisted of upgrading to the latest Realtek (NOT Microsoft) driver, then installing the Realtek Ethernet Diagnostic tool. The tool comes in 2 flavors, one for Windows XP thru 8.1, and another written just for Windows 10.

Got an Airrouter to test the RX/TX of my Bullet and to access nodes

Forums:

Found a way to access nodes via tunnel and over the air on channel -2.  Using a flashed AirRouter.  I kept the tunnel on the Bullet, so other hams can connect directly to the nodes on the tunnel.
