Using the Tough Switch as a VLAN Switch

Has anyone used the TS in the same way that you would use a GS108E?
I noticed that the management interface for the switch is "hard-wired" to VLAN1 and I am wondering if this causes a problem (before I go out and buy one).
Thanks.

Netgear GS105E restore config file error

Hi,

I have a Netgear GS105E Switch (model V1.x) and try to upload one of the preconfigured configs (supplied bij EREDN). I get constantly a time error even if i reset the switch.

Any ideas?

Actual spread of Rocket 120 sector antenna

Forums:
I have a situation where an area I would like to cover with the Rocket M2 w/120 degree sector antenna is only 2 miles or less away from the antenna.  Can I effectively cover this at about 10 degrees out side of the 120 degree spread advertised for this antenna?

I would just try it, but it is a tower climb.

Thanks - Kc8RGO

From BBHN to AREDN

Forums:

What steps are needed to flash Ubiquiti nodes that are already running BBHN? Are they flashed as factory or as sysupgrade? I searched the forums and the site and can't find anything the specifically addresses this.

nanostation vs rocket and v3.16.1.0b02

Forums:

I was doing some throughput benchmarking here and have found that, while beta02 now shows the full speed of the unit (almost 65 TxMbps for 10 MHz and 130 TxMbps for 20 MHz), the throughput I am seeing for the NS-M3 is pretty low (two nodes in mesh configuration).

For example, with the M2's running at 10 MHz I get 18 Mpbs on speedtest.net (with 5 km distance setting).

Help with NSM2

Forums:
Hi all,

I just got a new NSM2, ran the checkup tool and got 'BAD, GOOD'.

Followed the instructions on this website and tried to find 5.5.x sw - only version available for NSM2 is XW.

Per notes this could be XM or XW - anyway I tried to upload and it says 'Wrong firmware version'

Any help would be appreciated

NSM2 Update Failure

Forums:
I have two new NSM2 units XM v5.6.2 and tried to load the 5.5 version in preparation for AREDN.
I can UPLOAD the software (https://www.ubnt.com/download/airmax-m/default/default/xmv55112800215072) but when I click UPDATE  it goes to the rolling donut and "PLEASE WAIT - UPDATING FIRMWARE and just hangs with the updating firmware message. I have tried this several times on both units and they hang with no success for over 30 minutes.  If I retransmit the URL if comes up as the XM v5.6.2.

access from 44.x network

We have a 44-network here that is not routed to/from the Internet.  While it has gateways to the internet, the gateways have the standard firewall in place which prevents Internet users from accessing the 44 network, except for a few specific port-forwards we have in place.

Home-Brew Compact 6dBi 5.1 to 5.8 Collinear Antenna

Forums:

Does anyone have a design for a home-brew compact 5.6 to 5.8GHz collinear antenna that they could share. I have seen the one on the internet for the Home-brew Compact 6dBi Collinear Antenna 2.4GHz. Just looking for something similar.
