Hi all,
I just got a new NSM2, ran the checkup tool and got 'BAD, GOOD'.
Followed the instructions on this website and tried to find 5.5.x sw - only version available for NSM2 is XW.
Per notes this could be XM or XW - anyway I tried to upload and it says 'Wrong firmware version'
Any help would be appreciated

I think that is a typo in the description - it says "NS2" instead of "NSM2" but if you read the release notes, it says it includes the NSM2
Thanks, I found that file to, but under Loco , not under NSM2 - did not want to take a chance and brick the new unit.
The UBNT files generally are model specific. (They are XW/XM specific). This one should work...

Thanks for the help - yes that version worked. However I now have the situation that the AREDN 3.15 will not load - I get the error: Firmware image check failed. Error code -4. This is the same file I used successfully on another unit.
ANy ideas??
So let's back up just a bit. You've loaded Airos 5.5 on the node? And logged into the ubiquiti gui? And you're trying to install the FACTORY AREDN image on the node now through the ubiquiti gui?
OK - Brain F@@t on my part :) Was loading the wrong AREDN file.
Thanks to everyone for your help

Congratulations on unlocking the "Tried to load the wrong image" merit badge. Been there, done that. Many times even.

Today I have two new NSM2 units XM v5.6.2 and tried to load the 5.5 version in preparation for AREDN.
I can UPLOAD the software (https://www.ubnt.com/download/airmax-m/default/default/xmv55112800215072) but when I click UPDATE it goes to the rolling donut and "PLEASE WAIT - UPDATING FIRMWARE. I have tried this several times on both units and they hang with no success for over 30 minutes. I have loaded software several times, but I am now stumped.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Some of the firmware will install in a number of different (but related) devices.
My experience has been that the factory Ubiquiti firmware will prevent you from installing other, incompatible, versions of Ubiquiti factory firmware.
You can up load it, but not install it.
It's only when you venture into the realm of "third party" software that you can get into trouble.
