Switch for DtD with independent remote control of PoE on all ports

Hello All ...

I would very much appreciate your views on which switch would be my best choice to make Device to Device connections that can be remotely controlled across the AREDN network to apply PoE to its ports individually.  I would like to have at least 5 ports on the switch.

"Untested Hardware" Nanostation M2 and 3.20.3.0

Forums:
I got a Nanostation M2 on eBay and tried to load 3.20.2.0 and got the "Untested Hardware" banner. I then loaded 3.19.3.0 and it worked fine.

I have attached the support data file for this Nanostation M2 (XM) version. I'd like to get this device on the latest firmware if possible.

Thank you Bill NG1P

Mikrotik devices and 5Mhz bandwidth?

Forums:
I have heard reports the some Mikrotik devices only work at 10 and 20Mhz bandwidth (not 5Mhz)? Is this true for all Mikrotik devices that support the AREDN firmware? I have a local ham trying to connect to the mesh using the 27dB gain Mikrotik dish and it's not working.

thank you Bill NG1P

Ubiquity Rocket M2

Forums:

I have a Rocket M2, brand new that was donated to me. I am trying to flash it to Aredn using my Mac Terminal on TFTP. When I send the file I get the following back:

Error Code 514: Firmware check failed.

When I log into the ubiquity firmware it confirms it is a M2 XM, which is the firmware I downloaded. This leaves me questioning if I need to downgrade it before I can TFTP the aredn factory file to it?

Status settings in AIR OS are:
version: 5.6.11 (XM)
Device Model: Rocket M2
Any thoughts would be helpful.

AMO-2G13 Not Omnidirectional

Forums:
Ubiquiti advertises their AMO-2G13 antenna as being omnidirectional, but if you look at the horizontal pattern on their web site, it is 5 dB down on the
"sides".  How can one determine the directions of maximum radiation by looking at the antenna?  I wrote to Ubiquiti and asked this question but they did not reply.

Mikrotik RBLHG-5nD - !!!! UNTESTED HARDWARE !!!!

Forums:

Having trouble installing AREDN on a MikroTik RouterBOARD RBLHG-5nD running RouterOS v6.44.6.

Tried with both current and nightly builds. On Windows, using PXE Server, carefully following Ray KK6RAY's YouTube video. Have previously done two HAP 5s and hoped this process would be about the same. It's a little different, and maybe that's where I've gone wrong, or perhaps the hardware isn't supported?

See below and any suggestions or info would be appreciated.
Thank you, Chris KM6KDZ

Rocket self-contradictory

Forums:
I have a rocket M2 XM on my tower.  When I went to update the firmware, a line appeared that said:
hardware type ubnt (nanostation-m
This is clearly wrong, and the free memory of 46284KB confirms it is not a nanostation.
It would not accept a rocket update.
It did accept a nanostation update to 3.20.3.0, and it seems to work.

I tried other updates, including another to 3.20.3.0
They all fail and say:
Firmware cannot be updated
Upload file is not recognized
Failed to restart all services
Please reboot this node

Is it 'RBLHG-2nD-XL' or 'RBLHG-2HPnD-XL'?

Forums:

I really wanted to find the best 2.4GHz high-gain point-to-point dish to close some links at some sites that already have 5GHz equipment on them. But I still want to spread the love of a 2.4GHz AREDN node in the general direction of that community that we are shooting over, making it easy for them to get on the mesh network. So one of the options on the supported list was the RBLHG-2HPnD-XL. I scrubbed the internet for them, but could find them. So I thought it was a typo and bought the RBLHG-2nD-XL. And then I found out the real deal:

MikroTik hAP change VLAN

Forums:
Is there a way to set another eth port as D2D?
Change it from VLAN1 to VLAN2, I suppose...
