Network Architecture with 4 Power Beam 300 radios and Three Switches

I am trying to set up a proof of principle demo using 4 Ubiquiti Power Beam 300 radios in a PTP backhaul with a relay site.  I have three Netgear 105eV2 switches with VLANs per AREDN docs. My questions are:
  • Do the settings look reasonable per the drawing attached?
  • Is this the proper way to put the radios back to back since they only have one Ethernet connection?
  • Can I run the relay switch in a "dumb switch" without the VLANS?
  • What is the IP relationship between the Radio and the Switch.  Is the switch receiving DHCP from the radio?

hAP AC lite update fails

Forums:

Joe,

I picked up another hAP AC lite.
I loaded 3.19.3.0.elf.
Tried to update via browser to aredn-3.19.3.0-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16M-ac-sysupgrade.bin.
File uploads and then gets error that firmware not valid. I know the file is good, I've used it on other devices.
I looked at the supportdata file.
Previous device: machine : MikroTik RouterBOARD 952Ui-5ac2nD
New device: machine : MikroTik RouterBOARD RB952Ui-5ac2nD
Is different signature a problem?

Thanks,

Lost Link PowerBeam M5-300

Forums:
Good Evening to All,

Yesterday I was working on a pair of Ubiquiti PB-300 radios with AREDN 3-19 firmware.  They were linked when I pulled their power and today, I cannot get them to like again.  Each radio is reachable by Ethernet and the opposite end shows up in a scan as a "Foreign Ad Hoc Network".

I have tried all settings, channels, default values, etc and nothing seems to work.  It's probably something simple that I am missing.

Any insight or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Are there any routers that support using both 2.4 Ghz and 5.8 Ghz on the mesh.

Forums:
I am looking into is there are routers that would be able to be both a 2.4ghz and 5.8 ghz node at the same time. I know many of them have dual band radio. But as see on the chat that doesn't mean you can actually use it on both bands for the mesh.

HAP AC Lite Config Questions

Forums:
Having a great time getting acquainted with tunneling with my HAP ac Lite.
Have it working great with wired internet going into port 1, tunneling all day long, no issues
I'd like to be able to set the 2.4 wireless side for the internet connectivity to the tunnel.
I set the WAN Wifi Client with all the parameters for the home Wifi, checked the enable box, and rebooted after disconnecting internet from port 1.
Result is no internet connection.
What am I doing wrong?

Two Colored Status Screen

Forums:
I set up 4 GL-iNET AR300M nodes and everything went as expected with one exception.  One of the four now shows W8ERW-GL-AR300M, W8ERW is red and GL-AR300M is blue.  Looks interesting, is there some significance and how did that happen?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this one.

60Ghz devices?

Forums:
I noticed there is a 60GHz mikrotik SXTsq lite60 device.   I'm not too familiar with these higher bands, but the chipset in this device is the same as the SXTsq lite2, so it may just have an up-converter and the same motherboard.  The upper end of the 802.11ad spec in this band is just over 70GHz.   This suggests that we may be able to get AREDN/OpenWRT on this device and tweak it up to the 76Ghz - 81GHz ham band.    This appears roughly equivalent to selecting ch 7+ in 2GHz, but with the up-converter taking it to the 76GHz ham band.

AR150 USB Wan

Forums:
Hey folks,

just got an AR150 and, as expected, had it running as a mesh node in a matter of minutes.

One thought i had was could I plug my iPhone into the USB port and use it as a wan port.

Has anyone tried this?

I am guessing a few extra modules will be needed and maybe a manual config file change.

Cheers

Looking for PTZ Camera recommendations

Forums:

Hi folks,
We are trying to get funding to install a weather station on a mountain in middle Tennessee, and was thinking why not add a good PTZ while we are at it.
So i'm hoping to glean some insights on what cameras to get.

Smart switch Linking

Hello, I have a 305 foot tower i what to mount a ubnt 5 port tough sw. on, to run four nodes from. I will have a second 5port  ubnt tough sw. in the site building configured to run 4 Vlans.

1. Can I link via cat5/6 these two switches together ?
2.  Do i need a router in between the two switches or can i directly connect them?
3. Which ports are needed to do this  Vlans? or Wans?

The goal is to get by with one single run of cat5/6e up the tower running 48volt poe and dropping down to 24volts to run the switch and nodes.

Thanks
