So Cal Mesh Status Slow???

Is it just me, or is everybody in the So Cal area experiencing severe slowness (and sometimes nothing at all) when checking their mesh status page on their nodes?  This is my main home node:

San Fernando Valley coverage

FINALLY we have some mesh presence in the SFV.  This morning, Paul WD6EBY, Mike K6MJU, Cliff KK6QMS and I went to Verdugo Peak and installed a Rocket M2 (2.4 GHz) with 120 degree sector antenna.  (See attached photos)

It's pointed due west, with 3 1/2 degrees downtilt.  It should see everything in the valley well, with the exception of an area due west of it and extending maybe halfway across the valley; that area may be slightly shielded.

If you're in the Valley, point your nodes at 34.220175, -118.289615.

Server equipment available- anyone interested?

Hi everyone, a fellow I bought some server equipment from awhile ago is trying to unload the rest of his equipment. It isn't a fit for me, are any of you interested? Qty: 4 HP DL 380 G5 (at least 16GB Ram per server) These each ran VMWare ESX Server 3.51. Qty: 2 HP DL 320S G5 iSCSI storage array, running Windows Storage Server, not sure on the version. Qty: 1 HP DL 360 1U Windows server used as a domain controller. Qty: 1 Dell PowerEdge 2850, used as a domain controller.

Lompoc & Santa Maria/Orcutt Valleys

For those in the Lompoc Valley, Santa Maria/Orcutt Valley and 5-Cities, there are new high level 5 GHz sector nodes covering these areas.   The Lompoc node is at 1550' Gravel Peak looking north.   The Santa Maria/Orcutt node is at Orcutt/Newlove Hill looking north.     A yet to be linked test NSM5 node looking NW has also been set up in North Santa Maria on a 7 story building.   Pismo Heights (SLO County) now has a sector looking south.
Next efforts are RF linking north to SLO county in addition to RF linking SE via Santa Ynez Or Broadcast Peak.

New User

Hey All,

I learned about AREDN while I was at Scale 19x

Seems like a pretty neat project, so I ordered myself some hardware:

Newbie looking to connect to a mode from Mt. Baldy.

Hi from W9NOP,

I'm trying to connect to AREDN from my rustic cabin in a steep canyon on Mt. Baldy with a wood burning store and an outhouse.  According to iPhone Compass:
34 degrees 15' and 24" N.
117 degrees 38' and 18" W
5,500 feet elevation.
I've looked at an AREDN map and it appears I'll be shooting down the Mt. Baldy canyon into Los Angeles County; not San Bernardino or Riverside County.
I'm understanding that I should use 5.8 GHz and a dish with a range of about 30 miles.

Wilson Vs Verdugo

Greetings, I just signed up. Brand new to AREDN. No equipment yet. Just reading and learning at the moment,
but I'm thinking about picking up a Mikrotik RBLHG-5nD, since the price is reasonable and I don't want to commit a bunch of money at the moment.

I'm in Studio City. I have a clear view of both Mt. Wilson and Verdugo peak.
Verdugo is closer by several miles. Are there different services available on each?
Should I just pick based on distance and signal strength?
Thanks

Free to a good home

I have a bunch of Ubiquiti gear that I used to provide internet service in the desert during various races. I have an M5 rocket with a sector antenna, some nodes as well as some grids. Each has a Netgear ProSafe GS105E switch along with boost converters and POE pigtails that made 24vdc from 12vdc to power the Ubiquity gear. I have a USG and I think I may even have the LTE modem I used to jump into the internet.

You pick it up and it is all yours. Trying to keep it out of the e-waste stream. I can't figure put how to post pictures, contact me direct if you want photos.
