AMO-2G13 Not Omnidirectional

Forums:
Ubiquiti advertises their AMO-2G13 antenna as being omnidirectional, but if you look at the horizontal pattern on their web site, it is 5 dB down on the
"sides".  How can one determine the directions of maximum radiation by looking at the antenna?  I wrote to Ubiquiti and asked this question but they did not reply.

Ubiquiti antennas on 5.9ghz? Do they work?

Forums:
The majority of my nodes are channels 133-150 (5Mhz wide), we have a new site available which already has a 2.4 and 5.8 WISP there, and they are very protective of their 5.8ghz spectrum(long story, they have priority with the landlord).

How well do the Airmax 5.8 sectors work in 5.9ghz or are there any 5.9 dish antennas out there which don't cost a fortune?

My experience with the Powerbeam 620 showed the performance at the top-edge of 5.8 to be poor and 5.9 to be near non-existent.

New to dish antennas- Should I get a radome?

Forums:
Good morning,

I just configured a new Ubiquiti PBE-M5-620. It's my first dish antenna, and I don't know too much about how to optimize their performance aside from pointing them in the right direction.

Do I need to get a radome for this?

2.4 GHz directional RX/TX 17 km

Forums:

I plan to setup a Rocket M2 at 33.265978,-96.7601066.  The closest node is KF5NNY-LittleElm-North at 17 km away and may be up on a water tower.  I can get about 25 feet high at my location in North Texas.  Is it reasonable to expect a Ubiquiti PowerBeam (PBE-M2-400) or airMAX RD-2G24 to work?  I would like to gauge my probability of success before I invest the time.  I prefer to use a cheaper Yagi antenna if I can source one with gain/noise specs for this application.

Thanks for your suggestions.

basebox 5 and mANT 19s

Forums:
Has anyone use these two units together? How does the Basebox mount to the antenna or is it external to this antenna by mounting it to the mast? Do you need to purchase 2 of the coax pigtails (flex guide)?
Any pointers before I go any further.

Thanks

Devan

Roof mount tripod for sloped roof

Forums:

Has anyone used a Mikrotik mANT30 PA 2ft dish or equivalent with either the Easy-UP SV-3, SV-5, or maybe even a DishNetwork/DirectTV dish mount on a sloped roof?

Here's a pic of the Easy-UP SV-5:

There's a little section of my roof that has clear line of sight between trees to the site I'm trying to access, but it is on the sloped portion.

Mikrotik LDF Dish Size

Forums:
My neighbor was throwing out a 1 meter dish. Is there a practical limit to the dish size for the ldf 5ghz? Or is bigger better? http://nextcloud.caseydiers.com/index.php/s/c8NGbprxxXQ5kGa Also, pressure washing is very cathartic http://nextcloud.caseydiers.com/index.php/s/mzgC9ALK8Dmbw5W

split MIMO

Forums:

As an interim measure, where we want two directional antennas, pointing in different directions on 2.4 (on the same channel) that we could connect one "chain" of the radio (M2) to one of the inputs on a MIMO antenna and the other chain of the radio to a single-polarity antenna pointing in the other direction.

The idea is that, later, the node would be converted to two-frequency operation using MIMO in both directions.

PBE400 almost 525 ft away

Forums:
I'm doing a new installation of a Ubiquiti PBE400 that will require a cable run of almost 525 feet.

Now, I know I'll need a POE Extender for this but my question is if the 12 watt POE injector that comes with the Powerbeam is adequate to the task or do I need something different? I suspect the 12 watt one isn't.

My plans are to use Ubiquiti Carrier Class Tough Cable for the run but I'm open to less expensive alternatives (but only if it doesn't compromise reliability and ruggedness).
