Field Deploy-able Antenna Mast

Forums:

I am currently working on a field deployable AREDN end-node / APRS digipeter station. Antennas will be a quarter wave ground plane and a UBI parobolic.

I'm looking for a mast system that can be brought out into the field, and fit into a trunk of a car. I love to DIY, but if there's something under the $200 range, I'm OK buying as well.

I've seen some plans for chain link top rail stuff, some military surplus stuff, but would love any feedback on something that actually works.

Thanks all.

Potential product

Forums:
In looking for suitable hardware that might be usable for an AREDN-MESH station, either fixed (base) or mobile (portable), I found these items looking at the Staples web site (www.staples.com):
VTech® VSP735 ErisTerminal™ SIP Feature Deskset
Ubiquiti™ Networks™ airMAX® 900 MHz High-Gain Yagi Antenna With
Rocket Kit, 16 dBi

Just to be sure, locked does not mean locked. Right?

Forums:

I am looking at the LDF5 sold by Microcom and their webiste says "The device comes preinstalled with RouterOS and is ready to use.LDF 5 US (USA) is factory locked for 5170-5250MHz and 5725-5835MHz frequencies. This lock can not be removed."  It's mostly the word "locked" that is bothering me.

Considering the pile of gear/junk I have sitting in my garage (LinkSys WRT54 and various 2.4GHz antennas), that were listed in older HamNet site, I just want to be sure I'm not buying more gear/junk for my pile and instead have something I can proudly display on my roof.

Water Tower Installation

Forums:
We have an opportunity to install our antennas on a water tower. We are considering using 4 120deg sector antennas at the 4 compass points. What would be your advice for this type of installation? Should we use 90deg sectors instead? Is there enough separation between the antennas to stay on the same channel?

Altelix Antennas On Sale

Forums:

Altelix has all their antennas on sale as of this date.  These work with Ubiquiti, TP-Link, and Mikrotik devices and some even include the adapter plates.  Prices are much better than the equivalent Ubiquiti products.  Check their website at www.altelix.com.

Search for high gain directional 2.4 GHz antennas

Forums:
Hi All, I've been searching for high gain directional antennas for 2.4 GHz AREDN that are not sector antennas and so far all I have found are these parabolic dishes. On top of that it looks like these wont cover the frequency range we need (except for the last one.) Any recomendations for high gain directional antennas that won't break the bank? http://flyteccomputers.com/product/572/L-Com-HG2424EG-NF-24-GHz-24-dBi-D...

Spatial Diversity

Forums:
Is anyone currently working with single-polarity spatial diversity, or is this a possibility with AREDN on nodes with two antenna ports?

120° vs 90° vs Omni

Forums:

In order to get coverage over 360°, is it better to use 3 120°, 4 90° or an omni? I need to get out 1 mile and am thinking rocket 5g.

3ghz antennas

Forums:
Aloha ,
Not sure if these are any good. Happened upon them while looking at coaxial cable. Sure can't beat the price.

DIY cross polarized yagi for 900mhz?

Forums:
Has anyone built a cross polarized yagi for 900mhz Rocket? Or have you used two separate yagis at different polarization's next to each other for the same result? What spacing would you need. Those Ubiquiti 900 AirMax Mimo yagis are super long and super expensive, so looking for more compact options and diy options.
thanks!
