I'm new and want to help

Hi all!

I because aware of the project at SCALE 14. I'm very interested in the project and I'd like to know how can I help and participate.

I'm located in the SFV. I'm southeast of Oat Mountain. The map shows a tunnel node on Oat and my first step would be to purchase equipment and see if I can connect to the node.

Second would be to see if I could hit the node on Verdugo Peak when it goes live.

Coverage Announcement from JPL Pasadena

I'm happy to report a new installation and coverage from JPL Pasadena area.   A work party of the JPL ARC, president Jonathon KF6RTA, and vice president Josh KB3UUS, and invited guests Don KE6BXT, and myself AE6XE installed 5 mesh nodes at the Lab.   The follow area coverage is now available to area meshers:

JPL Mesa (repeater site):   5Ghz Rocket with 120deg Sector 19dBi coverage southeast.   ch 171 @ 10Mhz SSID = AREDN
JPL Building 180:  5Ghz Rocket with 120deg Sector 16dBi coverage of Lab area

Anybody interested in tunneling my node into the backbone?

Want to Trade For Ubiquiti Nanobridge M5

Hello LA County,

I need to unload excess if I want to get into the mesh part of the hobby.

I am looking to trade a 3 month old Tytera MD-380 DMR handie talkie with 2 batteries charger and stand and programming cable (fully functional, no dings, never been out of the shack) for a used fully functional Ubiquiti Nanbridge M5 with all parts including power injector.

Nanobridge M5 In North Whittier

I finally got a new Nanobridge up pointing at JPL. The link is good, no obstructions. I bought the Nanobridge M5/25 versus the m5/22 and I seem to have slightly better link quality.

I am still putting my network together but I have a quick question: I turned off DHCP on my radio and am doing static IP addresses on all hosts (Server, PCs) and I cannot get DNS to work on the mesh (10.x.x.x) network with WIndows 10.

Seeking advice for first node set up in Long Beach

Greetings, thank you AREDN team for your work on this project, and for putting this website together, great information here! I’m looking forward to getting some nodes up soon. Here’s my use case: I live in Los Angeles, and I want to set up a VOIP link from a mobile station near westwood (my work) to Long Beach (home).

Up and running in the San Fernando Valley

Hi all,
I finally gave in and purchased a Bullet M2 and a Netgear switch. It's up and running without anyone to talk to. I went with an omni antenna for now. I need to improve the mount on the roof (make it permanent). The antenna is only a single story up so only people with a little height will be able to hear it.

Right now, it is a bit of an island. The lone node in the Valley without much altitude. I hope that having *something* on the map in the Valley will spur someone else to setup something.
