Bricked ac lite with upgrade to 3.25.5.0
Hello,

Upgraded from 3.25.2.0 to 3.25.5.0 on a MikroTik RouterBOARD 952Ui-5ac2nD (hAP ac lite) on Saturday May 10, 2025.  I used the AREDN interface to facilitate the fetch and update.  The hAP ac lite unit is unresponsive.  It never came back to life or rebooted into the new firmware.

All the network interfaces (Ethernet and Wi-Fi) are not operational.  I've attempted several factory resets without any luck. The only lights on the unit are the 'PWR' and the 'USR'.  The front ethernet lights are all off, all the time.  When directly connecting to Ethernet from my computer, the computer intermittently recognizes the Ethernet line is connected to the hAP.  I don't mean DHCP or any IP addresses are recognized; recognized in the sense it knows there is a live device on the other end, i.e. it is not an unconnected Ethernet line.  About ever 10 seconds the computer sees a device and then doesn't see any device. So this isn't an issue of finding the device on the correct IP address, or subnet.  The ethernet ports are not active, and neither is the wi-fi.

Unfortunately I am unable to get the unit back to any factory default setting.  I have tried about 5 factory reset attempts thus far.  The firmware update failed, and the unit is in some limbo state.

I would seriously consider pulling 3.25.5.0 for the hAP ac lite specifically.  But perhaps I just got unlucky and there was some other factor I'm not aware of that contributed to this issue.

Hope this was helpful.

Have you tried installing the AREDN factory file or doing a Mikrotik Netinstall?

Thank you Chuck,
Thank you Chuck,

I appreciate the help.

I wasn't aware of the Mikrotik Netinstall tool, thank you for the link. Using the Netinstall tool I was able to install the routerOS main package that corresponds to this specific unit (hAP ac lite). It appears the installation did process and finish via the Netinstall tool.  The top-front Ethernet indicator lights are functional after this process, a step in the right direction.  However, I am still unable to reach the hAP via Ethernet nor wi-fi.  I've tried 192.168.88.1 and 192.168.1.1 via DHCP and Manual IP address set to the corresponding IP address allocation, trying all ports on the hAP.  I've tried direct Ethernet connections (PC to hAP) and connecting the hAP to my home router (DHCP enabled), trying all the ports on the hAP.  I've tried the winbox tool via Mikrotik without any success connecting to the hAP.  I reinstalled the routerOS a few times, even tried two other main packages created for slightly different hAP hardware (but the tool still installed them), still no success.

Even though I couldn't reach the hAP with the routerOS installed, I tried to install the rb.elf AREDN factory file via PXE server.  At one point it seemed like the hAP took the rb.elf file (3.25.5.1).  But the hAP was still unreachable.  I put the routerOS back on the hAP via the Netinstall tool.

At least the top-front Ethernet indicator lights work now.

3.25.5.1 hAP ac lite
I can not get the 5.1 to load on any of my hAP lite's. On the 5.0 routing is a mess. my ac2 will take the 5.1.  If I move the hAP to 2.25.2.0 everything works correctly..

If you mean MikroTik RouterBOARD 952Ui-5ac2nD (hAP ac lite),
please try with radios and tunnels disabled and soon after a reboot.

I hope this helps, Chuck
