If you wish to remove your node location from the public mapping service, simply clear/erase your lat/lon values, "Apply Location Settings", and then "Upload Data to AREDN Servers".
if possible, when planning to replace a node, clear the lat/lon values and submit. That will remove it from the map.
In cases where the node fails and you want to delete it from the map, email the node name and MAC address to me at k5dlq@aredn.org and I'll remove it.
I tried to email the address above and it was returned. I need help removing "K1DOS-1" from the map. I forget which device I used to upload the data and have been unsuccessful removing/updating this node on the map. I no longer have this node online.
I have my lat/long/gridsquare manually entered on my node. But I don't have an active internet connection. Is their a way to submit my node to the map?
We've got some node that have been removed, failed and replaced, but still show up.
Can you remove them? I now realize if we are taking down a node, we should update the location with lat/lon set to 0 and we can get rid of them by-ourselves.
N4SER-Comcast (failed on a 500' tower) we may replace once we can get a tower climber
WC4EM-APHP-1 Removed
N4ser-ARC-Rockm2-13D-omni (replaced with a newer and new named unit)
N4SER-NSM2-Inside (removed)
W4IE-SMH-SRQ (removed, the W4IE-SMHS-2 is there and showing up fine)
K4JBV-300 (silent key)
This will clean up a lot of our stuff. I've got new nodes that need to get locations set and published too. Working on it. I think we have 31 nodes in our system at present.
We've got a node we've replaced with a sector. But I can't get it off the map
It's named W4IE-SMHS-A-5G-NSM5-XW and the mac is F0:9F:C2:93:62:1A
I've got the node fired up on my desk, Have set the lon/lat to nothing, but it will not go away. I can move it around on the map and update and it mover around but I can't seem to kill it. Thanks,
To remove a node from the AREDN map
clear the contents of the Latitude, Longitude, and Grid Square boxes,
click 'Upload data to AREDN Servers'.
I hope this helps,
Chuck
I need some help removing a node from the map. I have tried deleting the lat/long and grid square and re-uploading to the servers, but it doesn't seem to update or remove the node from the map. The node information on the map that needs to be removed is listed below.
I thought a MAC address was a device specific id that does not change, much like a VIN number for a vehicle. From my limited experience a MAC address does not depend on what network it's on, or even if it's networked. The MAC is the MAC ... what gives?
Interesting thread. I don't understand how some folks can delete nodes from the meshmap and others not. Is there some sort of superuser for each installation? FWIW one of our local hams K1RKS has been working a lot with meshmap in Oregon. He put a version up that shows everything that was on our mesh in the last 31 days no matter if it is up now or not, but when you click each node it says how long it has been since last working. He then put another version on the same node that is a 2 hr mesh map, if a device isn't active on mesh it's dropped from the mesh map completely on that version (until it appears again for whatever reason). I don't know if he tweaked the code or what, but it sounds like something he did might be useful to your local mesh.
Mac addresses are network card specific. If a device has multiple network interfaces (2.4g, 5.8g, Ethernet) each of those interface chips will have its own mac address.
OK, let me ask further. A hAP Lite for example has wired LAN ports, and two radios. Those radios can be either 2.4 or 5 ghz ... I'm assuming the latest firmware that lets you choose what is on part15 and what is AREDN by changing which network that frequency band radio is using?
The part15 wifi is on the same LAN as the LAN ports. Do they share a MAC address or are there three MAC addresses?
Hi Ed. I have not been successful in using the 5.8GHz radio for the mesh. When I disable the 2GHz for the mesh radio it does become available for the LAN radio, however when I enable the mesh radio it will ONLY use the 2.4GHz radio. I am running:
I don't remember if the ability to use 5.8ghz on mesh is in the 3.23.4.0 or in a nightly build. You might try a nightly build and see if that changes things.
I've got one hAP that says it has the mesh on 5.8 but I haven't yet had a chance to go out into the field and see how it performs. It does give me part15 wifi on the 2ghz band fine. I don't have it here to see what firmware it's running but you might find some old conversations here on the forum that steer you in the right direction.
I have the following nodes that need removing from map ZL2AQY-AG MAC: 00:27:22:3D:C1:6A ZL2AQY-hap-ac-lite MAC: C4:AD:34:7C:86:85 ZL2AQY-tp-link-cpe220v2 MAC: 50:C7:BF:AF:4A:86

I’ve problem for deleting 2 nodes (Mikrotik hAP) wich have been renamed, HB9HHH-MT01 and MT02.
Are you able to delete them from the map ?
And I have a question: should I announce only radio nodes or also switches hAP ? When only radio nodes have to be announced, could you please also delete HB9HHH-HAP 1 and 2 ?
Simply resubmit it.
I did resubmit, but how does that delete a node that was replaced?

I'll remove it. (K1DOS-1)

Hello dear OM,
I set up my AREDN node for the first time.
But I entered bad location data.
I tried to remove the node from the map with empty data in the location fields
but this does not work on Mikrotik hap ac lite.
Now there are three entries on the map.
Each with a different MAC address
My data:
NodeName: DB6MK-196-38-244
1. MAC: 5A:EE:93:09:DB:A6
2. MAC: AE:BC:97:5B:27:71
3. MAC: DA:E8:EF:28:E8:24
Please remove the entries from the map.
Question: Why can one Mikrotik router have different MAC addresses?
Thanks for your help
and vy 73

Depends on what port was used (RF vs tunnel vs WAN vs something else).

I've changed my callsign to 4Z1YR.
