SE Tarrant/NE Johnson Counties area mesh

Forums:

The MJARS group in southeast Tarrant/northeast Johnson Counties has gone online with 4 nodes so far. The breakthrough came when a Rocket/sector was placed on a high perch in far southeast Tarrant County, covering a pretty fair piece of real estate. The link from that node to my node near Arlington Airport is 6 miles and I'm getting 27db s/n ratio and 100% LQ on channel -2. My node is a Bullet/24db dish at 42 ft.

Workday yesterday: Dallas, North Dallas, Farmers Branch, Richardson - North Texas

Forums:

Thanks to Paul Newman KA5TYW for organizing a fun and awesome workday for us North Texas AREDN'ers. We had maybe 10 in the group, such as:

NX5R, KN5DK, AE5BK, KD5YVL, KF5TSK, NJ1G, W5NOU, KD5OUG, KE5GDB, N5OPY, KF5IDY, KF5ZBL, N5AET
I don't know who in this group were all there but this was the emailed group - started out as just two people then wow! Great stuff.

We met in a park and several Ubiquity NSM2 connections made, and several mesh chat sessions established. We also assisted others with new configs, including raspberry pi, etc.

Curiousity...

Forums:
A curious thing occurred this morning (7/19/2018).
Our node WA5EOC-URM2-MONT (approx 475' AGL) in Montgomery County TX heard beacons from the following nodes:

W5NGU-Rosston-SE
k5rwk-rk2d-richardson
K5UTD-Southeast

It was not strong enough to make a connection (we only received IP addresses), but, with some investigation, I was able to determine the node names.
This was not via a tunnel as they showed as current neighbors (ie. RF).

These nodes and our node are approx. 190 MILES away!

Anyone still out there

Forums:
I am looking to set up a node, but want to know which APs would work for me.  Looks like the closest AP to me is in Grapevine about 6 miles away, and a few others within 10 miles.  Which APs if any will reach that far.  I can get it up 15 feet or so easily, and 25 - 30 if I mount it in a tree.  If none will reach that far, no point investing the money or time.

Fort Worth Tunnel client

Forums:
I have just set up a Mikrotik hAP ac lite with aredn software and it is showing on the map. I live in northside Fort Worth and I'm pretty certain I won't be able to hit another noted from my location/elevation with trees in the way and my lease. If possible, I would like to be able to access your network as a tunnel client until I can figure out a point to point situation.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Looking to get started in AREDN in the NTX area

Forums:
Hello,

Looking for contacts in the North Texas region that I can coordinate with as far as getting my QTH setup to assist with the AREDN infrastructure in my area, specifically West Plano.

Frequencies available or needed for coverage, equipment choices, etc.

Any information is appreciated.

New to AREDN in north Dallas

Forums:
Hi Everyone!

I'm new to AREDN and am in the north Dallas area.   I'm currently getting back in to radio after having a 5 year hiatus from all of it and this is part of my interests for the area as well.
