AREDN Mesh Go Kits at B2V

Forums:

On March 23rd, 2019 we supported the annual B2V Relay Cup race. We tested our mesh field deployment capabilities and had 4 mesh stations at Stage 9:

1) Early Warning (Mile Out)
2) Mesh Repeater (Rocket with Altelix Omni)
3) 200m Warning
4) Stage 9 Comm Tent

Everything was configured for 5.8 GHz.  We used only one channel without any problems, but we did have nodes pre-configured as a cross-channel repeater, had that proven to be necessary.

Mobile hAP AC Lite

Forums:

This isn't a traditional GoKit but I wanted to show this and get any feedback. I'm calling this whole setup (which may expand into an app) OMSAT - Open Mobile Situational Awareness Tool Kit.

First Attempt at a Go-Kit

Forums:

I wanted to share my first attempt at a “Go-Kit” for Aredn Mesh equipment.  This is very much a work in progress, but I thought sharing it here in it’s current form might solicit a little advice, and maybe give some ideas to other newbies like myself that are just getting started with Aredn.

My Stanley Go-Box - Version 2.0

Forums:

With time to kill with CoVid-Stay-at-Home, I decided to rebuild my Stanley Go-Box.  I had a couple of objectives for this iteration:

(1) Incorporate a dedicated laptop computer
(2) Incorporate a dedicated Raspberry Pi
(3) Incorporate a managed network switch
(4) Improve flexibility by incorporating a patch panel
(5) Incorporate a MikroTik hAP router/radio and a Grandstream VOIP phone.
(6) Configure the Bo-Box as a desktop workstation - plop it on the table, open the lid, connect the cables, and get to work.

Another Go-Kit Example(s)

Forums:

I posted this as a reply on another thread, but I'll list it separately also.

I have basic GoKit in a 22" Toolbox I purchased at Walmart.  This is my 3rd time (Ver 3.0) doing this and previously used a 20" box that just needed a bit more room.

AREDN Mesh “Go-Box” (version 2 and 2a)

Forums:

This is my second iteration of a Go-Box for my AREDN Mesh equipment.  It is actually two boxes - one as a "base" node and the second as a "remote/bridge" node.  I had several goals in mind when building these units:  (1) a kit that can have all (or almost all) of the necessary components together in one place, (2) easy setup of an AREDN node at a special event or emergency deployment, (3) be able to experiment with the hardware in my home without having cables and power supplies all over.  The base system is housed in a Stanley roll-around tool chest from Home Depot ($29!!).  It looks to be

We'll start off with a recent post from Mark N2MH and his new best friend Stanley.

Ultra-compact Battery "Box"

Forums:
I needed to get another power supply for my nodes for an upcoming event. I've got a yard trimmer that takes 20V Li-Ion batteries. Also, had an extra charger that was bad for those batteries (I've got a couple spare batteries), so decided to take my spare POE switch and one of the batteries to make a seperate battery box. All I did was harvest 2 contacts and the bottom half of the shell from the bad charger, checked the power pins with a DMM to double check polarity, and wire those to the power connector on the switch.
