Wake on LAN over the mesh
I know the WOL works when everything is on the same LAN segment, but have read there is some subnet directed broadcasting that could be done to allow WOL to travel different networks with the right configuration.

Is this possible over AREDN?   Have anyone tried?

Not likely going to make it
Not likely going to make it across the network.  What you may be able to do is write a script that will send the WoL packets on your local LAN based on some trigger that can pass across the network.  For example, my router has a series of firewall rules that responds to port knocks.  When the right series of port knocks happens, a script is executed that sends WoL packets to one of several computers at my house.  In my case this is via the internet and my normal home LAN, but the firewall rules could be adjusted for this to work over the AREDN mesh just as easily.

etherwake wake on lan
openwrt does not have any info for the UBIQUITI  Rocket M5 XW.  openwrt does have info on the PowerBeam M5-400  which is the same installation download as the rocket.  it shows mips_24kc Package architecture.  the etherwake package does not apear to have changed for quite some time.  SO.  Can I download the etherwake package etherwake_1.09-4_mips_24kc.ipk  from openWRT and install it  on a rocket M5 XW running AREDN?

I can ssh to the node then run etherwake from the command line to wake up the PC on the node lan.
