Ubiquiti Power Beam M5-620 reaches only 80MBPS?

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here. Looking for some help. I have installed Ubiquiti Power Beam M5-620 but the data transfer rate will only max out at 80MBPS with the AREDN firmware? I am not able to get the full speed of 130MBPS. Is there a reason for this? I have some questions and any help/directions will be appreciated. Note: the original hardware and firmware combination that comes with M5-620 is capable of 130MBPS.

a) Does the AREDN firmware need to be tweaked to get the 130MBPS? If so what are the tweaks? Please help.
b) If a) above cannot be done then is there other hardware that is supported by AREDN that would enable 130MBPS rates? Any one tested this?
c) Any other ideas?

Thanks so much.

Romeo

Actually, the maximum TxMbps is 144.4 with 20 MHz bandwidth.
Provided there is sufficient SNR and a path without reflections.
What is your SNR? Your 'Ratio' must be rather high to achieve maximum TxMbps.

If your test device is RF linked to another device...
To see what modulation schemes are being chosen:
ssh into the device
type: cat /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/netdev:wlan0/stations/
press the 'tab' key and select the MAC of the 'other' device.
type rc_stats
Press 'enter'.

MCS15 in both horizontal and vertical with SGI will result in maximum TxMbps.
(Modulation Coding Scheme, Short Guard Interval)

a) No. None.
b) No. Only need a strong signal and a path without reflections. I have had lots-of-fun testing using rc_stats.
c) Share with us your SNR values.

Thank you Chuck.
Thank you Chuck. For the quick answer. I will test this and get back.

How does this work?

On my tested aredn device, I find that "cat /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/netdev:wlan0/stations/" is a folder not a file and "cat" won't seem to work on a folder. "rc_stats" at the CLI when ssh into "BusyBox v1.30.1 () built-in shell (ash)" is "not found". I do see a list of MAC addresses at that folder location.

Where am I confused on this?

TIA,

Hi, Don:

"I find that "cat /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/netdev:wlan0/stations/" is a folder not a file"
Yep. That is where you
"press the 'tab' key and select the MAC of the 'other' device.
type rc_stats"
Oopps. "type rc_stats, then press 'enter'".
:-|
You can type 'rc' then press tab, then press 'enter'.

Sorry.

Chuck
