Tunnel servers for new node?

Hi,

I have just setup a node (K6LUD) at my place in Santa Barbara, but I do not have (yet) any other reachable node.
Anybody willing to share a set of credentials with me so that I can join the network via tunnel?

(I can also acts as server if that makes things easier, but my Internet IP is dynamic and will be via dynamic DNS entry).

Thanks!
Ludovico

No Problem
Sure,

Send me your node name.  And I'll get you set up as a client on my server (KJ4PVX-SERVER). I'm currently working to establish a mesh network in the Tampa Bay Area.

It would probably be better
It would probably be better to find somone local to you so that way your on your local area network instead of a remote area. There is a LOT of SOCAL activity.

Try KE6BXT
Ludovico, drop a note to Don Hill, KE6BXT (donhill@gmail.com)  He's in Southern California and provides tunnels for many folks.

Santa Barbara Mesh
Ludovico, as we speak Tom King KA6SOX is putting a node up on Gibraltar Peak, pointed at downtown Santa Barbara.   It will be on channel -2, 10 MHz, with default SSID.   He requests that you point your node at Gibraltar and report back.

Thanks!

Why is running a tunnel
Why is running a tunnel server impractical with Comcast?  Mine is working fine.  BTW, if you're connected to mesh islands over there, I'd like to connect my tunnel server with your node.

Comcast works just fine
I have 5 tunnel servers working just fine with Comcast.  All you need to do is open up port 5525 on your Comcast router to the MESH device that you are wanting to be the Tunnel server. (I usually fix their IP addy so it doesn't move around). It doesn't matter if they are running fiber, coax or twisted pairs (DSL). Tunnel outgoing clients work on everything I've tried so far, including my FREEDOMPOP cellphone data modem that I am using right now from a Campground in Tennessee.

I have a node in NNJ, and
I have a node in NNJ, and have one tunnel connection already (W2US), but would like to have more connections.   I'd be a client.  It's a Linksys hsmm mesh router with tunnels enabled.

My node is "WA2ISE-OradellNJ002"
and as I understand it, I'll need info such as a server IP
address, the password, and network IP address.

Tunnel built in
David,

AREDN has the tunnel software built-in to the nodes. Clicking the tunnel link under the setup tab will prompt a sequence to download the server and client for the tunnels..
