I'm trying to encourage my local club to start building an AREDN mesh. I'd like to tunnel to an active network both to experience what a fully realized net looks like for myself and to show the rest of the club what AREDN can do. The Houston subforum looks pretty dead, and the map doesn't seem to be up to date in my area, hence why I'm asking here. Austin and Dallas seem pretty active though.
I do have a few questions. I'm assuming that, as a tunnel client, I can move the node to a different "WAN" subnet and still have tunnel access as long as the network I'm on has internet access. I'm hoping to take the node to the meeting to show the club a network in action.
Sam, I can provide a tunnel to the SoCal network for your demo if you wish. Drop me a note at orv.beach@gmail.com and we'll get you set up.

That is correct. The tunnel client can move all over the place. In fact many of us have nodes that are specifically intended for tunnel connections back to home or some other location when traveling.
Warning:
Perhaps it is best to use a cellphone 'hotspot' as a backup.
I have discovered that many colleges, public libraries, and government facilities
block IP addresses identified as 'residential'.
Wright State University, the Dayton and Montgomery Public Library, and recently
Fairfield Township Butler County Ohio, block access to my home IP address.
