Still looking for feedback on 3.17.1.0RC1?
Not sure if you are still looking for feedback on the RC release (and if indeed this is the right way to do it). I prototyped our network deployment (5 GHz backbone with 2.4GHz distribution & access), which involved 3.17.1RC1 on the following hardware:
  • Rocket M5 XW
  • Rocket M2
  • PBE-M2-400
  • NSM2
  • NSM5 XW
  • AirRouter
Also set up a tunnel server on the PBE-M2-400 with tunnel clients on an NSM5 and an AirRouter. Internet gateway is enabled on the PBE-M2-400. Just a prototype at the moment, but so far no major issues either in setup or operation. (The one issue I did encounter was after flashing the AirRouter to 3.17.1RC1 I was not able to get a DHCP IP address on port 4. I switched to switch port 1 and it worked fine. Not sure if this how it is designed, a bug, or I was just too impatient when using port 4.) 73, Rob

3.17.1.0RC1
There are some issues with Tunneling mostly on the AirRouter with additional services like IP Phones with the Release Candidate.  They load down and eventually crash OLSR.  This issue is being looked into by hte development team.

Your issue on port 4 is that it is used for DTD (Device-To-Device) connections to other AREDN nodes.  You can attach your computers, etc to ports 1-3 for DHCP service. Use port 4 for connecting only to other AREDN flashed devices like a Nanostation, Rocket, Nanobridge on a tower or mast up in the air.

Hmmm ...
Actually, I knew that and temporarily forgot ;-) The AirOS setup guide says you can use any port, so it ended up in 4 randomly and was still there after the AREDN image was flashed. Now that I think about it, you probably set the PVID to 2 on port 4, so of course it doesn't work. Brain fade ... Thanks also for the heads up on the potential VoIP issue. We're just now getting our heads wrapped around Asterisk so that will be happening soon, I hope. 73
