Starting a network in Austin / Austin Mesh
Howdy y'all. I'm Tommy. I run Austin Mesh(austinmesh.org) - we're a community group focused on mesh networking. We used MeshCore primarily at the moment, but our members dabble in many different techs.

Today in Austin, there is no high bandwidth mesh network. Everything is LoRa so all you get are small texts. The coverage is _amazing_ though. We've connected Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park, Austin, Lakeway, Dripping Springs, Lago Vista, Driftwood, Wimberley, and a whole bunch of others. In the process, we've developed relationships with a number of individuals, businesses, and building managers. I think there is a great opportunity for us to start building an AREDN mesh here. We can start small, just downtown Austin with a few PTP nodes, and then start attaching users on as funds and space is available. I think that in due time, we could have much of the Hill Country and the i35 coridor connected using AREDN.

I haven't used this tech since 2015 when it was still called HSMM, it's come a long way! I've done a fair amount of reading to catch up, but I still have a lot to learn. If there is anyone else out there in Central Texas who wants to work with us to start this, I'd love to talk!
