Signal miror possible?
Hi,

One of the site I plan to install a node, a mountain top, the signal will not be reached mountain on the mountain side. However I do have a location that would face the mountain top node and the mountain side node where I could install a "mirror" device.

Can a stand-alone device act as a relay without the need for a switch ? Or does it need a switch anyway ?

Relay Nodes
Yes.  We call these Mid-mile Nodes or Relay Nodes.  Read my article at: https://www.tapr.org/pdf/DCC2015-AREDN-Project-K6AH.pdf

Thanks for your quick reply!
Thanks for your quick reply!

Just to be sure we both understand each other, in my mind the relay node would be a single device. Not two connected in DtD.

Is it still something possible... This would be a temporary solution before we can deploy something better :)

A single node will work...
A single node will work if both of the other nodes are within the Relay Node's antenna beamwidth.  The hidden transmitter problem will slow things down a bit, so a relay using two devices on different bands will have higher throughput.

Thanks! :)
Thanks! :)

Like I wrote, this is a temporary solution while we plan the deployment for that town... I try to get access to a building instead of a friend's apartment. The city in question may let us use their town hall to put few antenna, but in the meanwhile we would be able to start somewhere if things are not yet sorted out!

Thanks again!
