Service is not being advertised

On a  Rocket M5 (m-xw) flashed with v. 3.22.8.0 when I try to Save Changes the operation is completed, but coming back to Setup/Port Forwarding, DHCP and Services after a few minutes, the Links disappear and the services are no more active. I tried several times to activate the links with no success.
Any idea on how to solve the issue? Any comment/help will be very appreciated. Attached 2 screenshots.

The ! at the right indicates
The ! at the right indicates that the AREDN node is disabled advertising that service because the service device can not be found.  From the names, I assume both are cameras.  There was some earlier discussion that some cameras were not responding to the AREDN node when the node attempted to determine if the camera is actually present and available.  Other than (I think) Ping and a web page query, I don't know what methods that the node will try in it's efforts to see if a device is really there.
This was a change a while ago to reduce the number of advertised services that don't really exist (a lot of them, BTW).

Services ...
The two services are Iperfspeed and Wanscam IP camera. Both were running with the v. 3.22.6.0

+1 with Jim K6CCC.

There was a fix in the Nightlies for cameras (and other devices) that do not repond well to PINGs and
other tests to check if they are 'active'.
Try the current nightly, 1865, and in AdvancedConfiguration->WAN Settings, enable
Provide default route to LAN devices even when WAN access is disabled.

Or regress to 3.22.6.0

I hope this helps, Chuck

Hi Chuck,
Hi Chuck,
thanks! Your suggestion "enable Provide default route to LAN devices even when WAN access is disabled." solved the issue with iperfspeed, not with Wanscam IP Camera.
I'll check in the Nightlies.

Hi, Leo:

  • Can you change camera and link to port:80 instead of port:99 ?
  • Does a reboot of the host AREDN node enable the camera for 1 hour?

Hi Chuck,

First of all, keep in mind that I am operating remotely.
  • I can't replace the CAM on the Rocket with one having port 80, but I have another node ( MikroTik RBLHG-5HPnD-XL) flashed with v. 3.22.8.0 and an IP CAM with port 80 where all is working fine. Moreover, in the Rocket am noting that, when saving changes, then the feedback is very slow (2-3 minutes).
  • A reboot enables the camera for a few minutes.
Could the issue be related to the memory of the Rocket?

Wanscam port:99

Hi, Leo:
I was assuming that the camera could be changed from port:99 to port:80 by setup with administrator privilege.

"Could the issue be related to the memory of the Rocket? "
I think not.
I think the camera's 'Advertised Services' link is being de-activated by new feature in 3.22.8.0 and nightlies.

Hi Chuck,
Hi Chuck,

after having enabled in the Advanced Configuration the three options:
aredn.@wan[0].olsrd_gw
aredn.@wan[0].lan_dhcp_route
aredn.@wan[0].lan_dhcp_defaultroute

The issue seems to be solved. The node is keeping the links so far since 3 hours ago.
Thanks for your support.

just a warning, by enabling
just a warning, by enabling "aredn.@wan[0].olsrd_gw" your node is providing "internet" access to the entire mesh.

Yes Darryl, but only if your node has a WAN pre-configured port or a 802.1Q switch with a VLAN.

Hi, Leo: Rephrase: aredn.@wan[0].olsrd_gw 'enabled' is not default, could cause another issue, and may not help with your issue. aredn.@wan[0].lan_dhcp_route 'enabled' is default setting. Nothing changed. aredn.@wan[0].lan_dhcp_defaultroute 'enabled' is not default and may have fixed your issue. 73, Chuck
