Need advise...
I purchase this node, and configure it yesterday (for my home shack) : RBSXTsq5nD-US
For now, i'm the only one in the area (if i'm looking at the actual MeshMap), so don't have enough power to connect to another node.. yet.. but it's growing here.
If i want to give Internet Access to this node, what should i set ? (so NTP will synch, and all other stuff)..
My actual Setup is :
Microtik -> PoE cable (80ft) -> PoE Switch -> GLiNet Router
192.168.1.8 -----------------------------------------> 192.168.1.1
Here what i set on the NEtwork section :
Mesh Adress : i keep it there .. so
Lan type : NAT
IP Adress : 192.168.1.8
netmask : 255.255.255.0
WAN mode : Static
Adress : 192.168.1.8
netmask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1
And under "Advanced Option", i enable those (or keep them enable if they were) :
Mesh to WAN
LAN to WAN
LAN to 44Net
LAN default route
The LAN DHCP is disable to avoid collision with my home DHCP router.
I don't know if i set this up right, any optimisation ?

What firmware is in the RBSXTsq5nD?
Router OS?
AREDN firmware?
Which GLiNet Router?
What firmware is in the GLiNet Router?
Manufacturer's OS?
AREDN firmware?

Router OS, its my home router, not Arden router. It's a Flint 2 latest firmware (Glinet)
The portion of the guide is so limited for providing internet access to the node, its the reasons i asked here, hopping to see if i was well configured or not the device. It advertise to connect the WAN port of the node to home router... Showing devices with more than one port... But my node is to be installed outside, and only have 1 port. That seem to act as WAN and LAN port (because provide DHCP that i disable to not conflict with my home DHCP)
I end up with this small information ; http://docs.arednmesh.org/en/latest/arednHow-toGuides/home-router-connec...
I think i have provide enough information on my initial request, asking if it was ok they way I set it to communicate with internet from my home router... No?
What's puzzled me, is that in the menu of the node,
But NTP not synching....
So, i then ask here, to see if i did something wrong, as i can't find details information on your website...
LAN untagged
WAN tagged on VLAN1
DtD tagged on VLAN2
To access internet on the RBSXT you will need a user programmed:
VLAN switch or a hAP-ac2 or hAP-ac3 or or Gl-iNet AR150, AR300M, AR750 or similar.
You do not need to disable the SXT's DHCP service.
What's puzzled me, is that in the menu of the node,
2. ?
3. From a computer that already has internet access?

Yes, those step i did to check firmware, was done from a computer on my home network switch, so have access to Internet. So suspect the interface where triggered queries from my computer, and not from the node. Even if i have set some switch on on the node that seems to advertise the traffic will go this direction (when hit help, i have more details info)
The AR150 is discontinued, but not the 300m, but why having another router connect to this node instead of using my router?
It will look like this
Mikrotik - - - > PoE injector. - - > AR300 - - > home switch PoE. ---> MT6000. (home router)
I was more expecting this configurations :
Mikrotik - - - >. Home switch PoE. - - - - >. MT6000 (home router)
I select the Microtic because i can connect it in a location away from my home, with already present underground networks cable i used for PoE device.
PoE switch and router on UPS.
I was in the impression that when I set those wan to lan switch on and Mesh to wan, those enabling that, and think the NAT option will simply flow traffic from the node to my internet provided by my home router.
Or i really need to build another full network isolated from mine, and from there find a way to connect it to my home router with WiFi connection as examples?
Hope this helps.

I suspect i need to upgrade it the same way i did the node.. so PXE approach ?
I interesting to see.. they have PoE In !
Node Network :
In my region, there is no node arround.. but i intend to make it work, and then present that to the HAM club.. it more interesting when you show something working !
Lan type : /29 (5 host)
WAN Mode : DHCP
in Avanced Option, all ON for now (to be able to access all equipement in that lan later)
Under Ports & Xlinks" .. Port 5 : dtd
Port-4 : LAN : untaged
WLAN untaged (but connect to my router). NTP updated, so communication work there
In the LAN DHCP, i remeber the MAC adress of the SXTsq Lite5.. so i set a fixed IP there
****
So the SXTsq Lite5.. is there any "how to" configure it on this router.. i think i may only need to set something in the Network setting i don'T have right...
It is not just that simple.
Your node must be 'connected' to a 'supernode' that is already on the arednmesh.org map.
why having another router connect to this node instead of using my router?
Because your node (SXT) is expecting to find WAN tagged on VLAN1 and your home router does not tag its WAN on VLAN1.
Your home router's WAN is untagged.
+1 with Orv. Add a hap-ac3 (or ac2) and you are good-to-go.
In the beginning of your note you say:
'not necessary want to provide internet access to other who connect to the node'.
Yet the last half of your note seems to indicate a desire to provide internet access (WAN) to
'a location away from my home'.
If you want DtD and WAN access in 'a location away from my home',
you may need to transport both VLAN1 and VLAN2 data.
You may need a VLAN capable switch in your home and one in the 'location away from my home'.

Note : for me a guide have lot of detail information with picture, so more than a 2 line of information. That can be followed by any experience and inexperienced user that have some basic knowledge, but not expert in networking.
Don't know yet what option will be available after flashing the Microtik AP, hope to be able to set a port forwarding between WAN and the Node. So can access and monitor/change setting without the need to move my computer on the dedicated network (AP).
In this example if you set your SXTsq node to "5 host" Network mode (rather than NAT), then connect the node's Ethernet port to a smart switch that can provide VLANs. Set port 1 to VLAN 1 tagged and set port 5 to VLAN 1 untagged. All of the other switch ports become available for you to plug in computers or cameras or phones that will get their IP addresses on your node's LAN network. You node will get a WAN IP address automatically via DHCP from your home router.
After that... Read a little more on this forum. But as I'm traveling a lot, i now have a way to access it remotely for testing
