Node Type Setting missing in Basic Setup on 3.18.9.0

I have 2 NanoStations.  One is at version 3.16.1.1, and when I go to the basic setup, below the node name is the box that states node type with a drop down available to select a node type.  One my node that has version 3.18.9.0, when I go to the basic set up, below the node name it has a box to enter an optional node description, but the box to select a node type is not there.  So on the new version, it looks like it defaults to mesh node,, and can't be changed ???

As of the current Nightly
As of the current Nightly build, the device is always in mesh mode.  However, now you can turn off mesh RF (still mesh using DtDlink to other devices) and a mesh LAN AP section will show to configure the radio.   Thus it does Mesh and Access Point at the same time now.

Thanks Joe for the information.   Will have to play some with it to get a better understanding.  I believe I saw more information on the AREDN site, will look again so I get a better understanding.  Again, appreciate the reply !!!

Can't find the option to check to turn off mesh RF

Joe,
You stated to turn off the mesh RF, from what I found looking at the AREDN site, there is supposed to be a thing to check in the basic setup, in the Mesh RF to turn if off, but I don't see anything there like that at all.  I just did the update again for the 3.18.19.0, wasn't sure if these "nightly builds" was included in what I downloaded a few days ago.
Update:  Well still learning my way around the AREDN site, did find the area for the "nightly builds", so I now realize why I don't see the enable button in the Mesh RF to check.  What I am not clear on is how to install a "nightly build",  Sorry for all my dumb questions, still getting up the learning cure.

Same deal
Installing a nightly build is pretty much the same as installing the production code;  download the nightly build, upload it to the node.  It'll reboot, and poof! done!
There's a couple of other steps if you're running the tunnel client or server, but that's pretty much it.  (Make sure you have the "Keep Settings" box checked, though.

Thanks so much for the

Thanks so much for the information.  I do have a tunnel client and server set up, I know I need to disable the connections for the client tunnel to get the upload to function, I believe that's all I need to do.  Will give it a try.  Thanks again for the help, I sure appreciate it !
One more question, do I only need to update the sysupgrade.bin, or do I have to also do the factory.bin also.

Upgrade
When you already have an AREDN firmware version running, then it's always a sysupgrade.

Thanks for the information, I hope folks are not getting tired of all my questions, and if I did a better job of reading everything would probably help.

Do you have to go through the TFTP process to do this or just use the Administration in basic setup.
thanks

If you are running the AREDN
If you are running the AREDN firmware already, you can download the appropriate nightly build (SYSUPGRADE.bin), and load it via the AREDN Administration page:
https://arednmesh.readthedocs.io/en/latest/arednGettingStarted/advanced_config.html#administration

To determine which file to load on a device, check this page: https://github.com/aredn/aredn_ar71xx/blob/develop/README.md

Generally, the only time that you need to do the TFTP method is on the FIRST install (generally from AirOS or RouterOS or PharOS) to AREDN.

The TFTP method will NOT preserve any settings.
The SYSUPGRADE method (available IN AREDN) can preserve settings (depending on value of the KEEP SETTINGS checkbox on the Admin page.

If a node ever is in a state where you cannot get to the AREDN Web interface, or, some other fault/failure, you can revert to use the TFTP method and reload the appropriate AREDN "factory" file.

In my experience, sysupgrades are generally successfully when done via the UI.
