Nano Beam Question about longevity...
Nano Beam longevity...

Just curious about the survivability of the Nano Beam units.  I'm in the Los Angeles area and was curious how well the plastic case and plastic mounting components of the units hold up over time when permanently mounted outside, on the side of a tower for example.

Thanks,

Burt, K6OQK

Hi, i am from the other thread where you started this. We do not have any long term stability knowledge on the ubiquity plastic coating. We are hoping it is well protected as it will spend many long summer day out in the Florida sun.
I thin ubiquity should be able to furnish you with some information to make you feel better. I doubt they make enclosures designed to be in remote and potentially harsh environments that are not UV proof.

Den,
Den,

Thank you for your reply.  I don't know how long the Nano Beams have been around, and I suppost they are made of the same material the rest of the Ubiquity devices are made from.  I was hoping maybe someone that's had one of these things outside for several years might comment on their experience.

I know of several hundred assorted Ubiquiti CPEs installed by a local WISP in New Mexico at 6000' the first units deployed have been in service for 3+ years now with no plastic failures so far

NB longevity
I recently bought a 5 pack of used NBs - don't know how long they were in service but 2 of the plastic units that hold the node to the dish were very brittle - when disassembling for cleaning they both cracked.  I sent a message to Ubiquiti and they sent me 5 new ones, free of charge.  Gotta like the service :)
