Can anyone shed any light on why the domain name for this site moved...w/o warning? And the old one somehow got redirected to BBHN? I've been trying to get into it for days. Only when K1KY posted a forum message on BBHN to point me here did I find it again (thanks K1KY). In reviewing some automated email from AREDN, I find that since three days ago, they have started using URLs for this site... but I have long ago "tuned out" these automated emails as they haven't normally said anything particularly enlightening... and are often duplicates of earlier messages. And arguably the most visible part of the message... the reply-to email address... still points to the old domain. And the subject of the 23 June messages is NOT a domain change.

One of our team members decided he didn't agree with the rest of the group on a new organizational/governance structure. Since that member had administrative/technical control over the ARED.org domain name, he maliciously shut it down. As you have recognized, it has been restored under AREDNMesh.org . We are working on an email notice to all of our registered users. Sorry for the inconvenience. We recognize it's you, the user, that is having to bear the brunt of his action.

I suspect the "real story" lies somewhere in the middle.
1) almost good enough is good enough
2) perfect is never perfect the first time.
3) I am expendable
We as Amateur Radio operators hold high the premise of helping our communities when the need arises. It’s a basic thing for us to be ready to help communicate. Personally I think loosing Conrad because he would rather withdraw from helping the Amateur Radio Community is a loss.
So what if the name changes.
So what if two competing organizations sprout: AREDN and AREDNMESH.
One person can change history....but it takes many people to keep history moving in the right direction.
Sometimes we just have to learn to check our Egos at the door before going inside to make good things happen.
And I think it is Damn important to Thank People for what they do and Never Hog all the Credit for yourself.
So thank you Conrad for coming up with AREDN.....even if you did it by yourself. But AREDN isn’t where it is today just because of you. Many people contributed. So thank you. Now about that $25K.....what’s that for?
I think that everyone who worked on this AREDN project (and predecessor) so far deserves a lot of credit.
