Missing 'MAC2' on Meraki MR-16

I installed AREDN (aredn-3.22.12.0-ar71xx-generic-mr16-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin) on a Meraki MR-16. (Yay!) I did install an older version of OpenWRT 19.07.5 first, as indicated in the instructions I followed, and I did set the Mac address.

On my first boot, when I enter in some basic information and try to save it, I get the following message:

Configuration NOT saved!
  • nv parameter 'MAC2' in file '/etc/config.mesh/_setup.default' does not exist

When I look at the file in question, it starts like this:

wifi_proto = static
wifi_ip = 10.<MAC2>
wifi_mask = 255.0.0.0
wifi_ssid = AREDN
wifi_mode = adhoc
wifi_txpower = 19
wifi_channel = 1
wifi_chanbw = 20
wifi_distance = 0
wifi_country = 00

I suspect the issue is on the second line.

When I run `ifconfig | grep HWaddr`, I see the Mac address, so I think it is set correctly. I don't know how to check beyond that.

br-lan    Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:18:0A:31:4F:2A
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:18:0A:31:4F:2A

I have power-cycled the device. I've seen references to holding a reset button for 15 seconds, but I don't see a reset button.

How do I fix this?

I think I've found a solution
I think I've found a solution. It appears that if I fully install the OpenWRT 10.07.5 firmware, and then upload the AREDN firmware through the web interface (telling it not to keep any settings) and then go in (through the serial interface) and set the mac address before going to the first boot screen, that it works.
