Attempting to help a friend with his node. He just purchased a MikroTik SXTsq Lite 2 and installed the latest firmware 3.22.1.0.
We can access the node but he forgot the admin password. We have tried every password he could think of but we can't get any passwords to work including hsmm.
I have tried all of the factory hardware rest procedures but nothing works. The reset button seems to function when It is depressed and the node is powered up. I see all of the lights flash as I believe they should. I have tried all of the factory reset procedures and all of the procedures mentioned in the forum that I could find to reset the node back to nocall but nothing works.
i have tried:
power off, depress button, power node on, wait for 5 seconds and release, Then same procedure but waited 12 seconds. Then waited 30 seconds before releasing the button. Including waiting for the node to boot completely, accessing the web interface then depressing the reset button for various times.
I have tried reloading the firmware following the original firmware install procedure using the PXE server and using IP addresses 192.168.1.100 for the PC and 102.168.88.254 but can't get the node into that mode.
When I depress the reset button and power it on, the power light comes on, the PC light flashes on and off and then depending how long I hold the reset, the power level lights will start to flash then go out. But it doesn't ever change anything and the node always boots back up into the Aredn software and seems to be normal other that we can't access the setup..
Appreciate your help or ideas..
Jim

Appendix Failsafe Mode
Failsafe Mode is a method of restoring a node to an operational state.
Reset Password or DHCP:
After the node fully boots press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds which will cause the unit to enable DHCP and reset the root password to 'hsmm'.
Full Failsafe:
After the node fully boots press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds which will cause the unit to behave as if it had just been flashed with the AREDN™ firmware.
You would need to go through the node settings again just as if it was the first time installing the AREDN™ firmware on the node.

If you cannot get to your node's Help page as Chuck suggested, the online documentation describes how to use the Node Reset button here:
https://arednmesh.readthedocs.io/en/latest/arednGettingStarted/advanced_config.html#node-reset-button
The reset button has no effect when the node is fully booted. I can access the status page no problem.
If I depress and hold the reset button for 5 seconds, nothing happens. I've tried 15 seconds nothing, tried it several times, with various duration, nothing changes. The node doesn't reboot or respond.
I've set up a continuous ping while depressing the rest button, no loss of connectivity and nothing changes.
I know the button is working because when I depress it during power on, after about 15 seconds, the signal strength LED all begin to flash. However that's all it does. I don't get into any kind of PXE client mode or boot loader mode that I can tell.
Any other ideas?
Thanks, Jim
Did you try to logon with root/hsmm after the 5 second reset procedure?
I have a Chuck
I used the the Netinstall procedure to reinstall the routerOS factory software. I then reloaded the Aredn firmware.
Here is the procedure I used: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall
Be aware, the failsafe procedure outlined in the Aredn help does not work on this device. (MikroTik SXTsq Lite2)
Thanks to all that replied!
