I have a Mikrotik hap ac lite node. The LAN wifi access is only available on 5GHz. Is this normal or am I missing 2.4?

Partially correct.
Only partially correct. The hAP has one 2.4 GHz radio and one 5 GHz radio. The 2.4 GHz radio can function in any ONE of three modes: 1 - AREDN mesh, 2 - WiFi client, or 3 - WiFi access point. The 5 GHz radio can function on either of the latter two. So yes if you do not have the 2.4 GHz radio operating as an AREDN mesh node, you can use the 2.4 GHz radio as either a WiFi client or a WiFi access point.
