MeshChat Net?

For those of us who have deployed MeshChat, and have tunneled in someplace, it would be fun to have a weekly net where everyone joins the Everything channel.

Someone pick a day and time where it's equally inconvenient for everyone :-)

If it was up to me I'd pick Sunday at 0400Z.

What say you?

Orv,

Orv,

I am willing and able to participate. Sunday at 0400z sounds good to me. My node is KK6YKC-IB1 or KK6YKC-mobile.

Thanks

Local SDWG Policy

Hi Gary,

You will need to tunnel into a the larger network Orv is on.  Currently the San Diego Mesh Working Group has an informal policy of not tunneling (but to build the network on RF links alone).  I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if you do for a short period of time, but I encourage you to disconnect from the tunnel when the MeshChat meeting ends.

Thanks Andre,

Thanks Andre,

Yeah I don't think I want to tunnel. I am not opposed to doing it. I am guessing I would have to tunnel through the internet to connect to Orv? But I would rather would like to see who could come up on the meshnet/meshchat in an emergency condition IE power outage and everyone is running off generator or solar power.

MESH "NET"

We're in - just let me know who to connect to.  We can bring the Arizona, VA and Alaska guys with us.
Darryl and Trevor have capability to connect to us also.

MeshChat Net

OK - let's try our first one tomorrow (Sunday).  That's 3/13 in the U.S., 3/14@ 0400Z.
Don't let Daylight Savings mess you up :-)

Tom, drop a note to Don Hill, KE6BXT (donhill@gmail.com) - he runs the tunnel server many folks tunnel into.

Orv,

Orv,

do you tunnel via the internet or via the mesh network?

Tunneling

Tunneling is a means of connecting two mesh nodes (or "mesh islands" together) via a tunnel over the Internet.  It's meant as an interim connectivity tool to be replaced with RF paths later, where feasible.
I have two tunnels providing connectivity to the moment.  One connects the Ventura County mesh network to the Orange County mesh network.
The other provides connectivity to a ham in St. Paul, who has mesh up but NOBODY in his neighborhood :-)
