How strong is too strong?

A local mesher discovered that his Airgrid is putting a -61 dB signal into the Rocket that's the access point for our local mesh community.  He and the Rocket owner are wondering if that might be negatively impacting the performance of the Rocket for other users by swamping the receiver somehow.  Could that be true?

In checking my own station, I see -61dBm  when I run

iw wlan0 scan

but it's not in relationship to any specific link.  He may be confused (as am I).  Some explanation, please!
