Field Day 2019
Well Field Day is Over Did you make use of AREDN at your site?   Time to share ideas for next year as we continue to see growth in the network and lots of work from the Development TEAM.

We did a demo of VOIP on the Local Mesh. Each site had a node to include a gl150 at the visitors tent
with Grandstream phones.  This was our first Public showing to local Hams and our visitors to include
2 members of local Emergency Management.  Also an off site Webcam was displayed.  We also tested
the RAS-PBX  from a remote location on the network back to the Field Day site.

We had great conversation about other uses during normal Public service events to include VOIP for
Parade check in to Announcers stand and possible Webcam's as well.

Did your site use the MESH?

Here in Columbia, we were more subdued. The logging computers were new to the operators, N1MM Logger+ was new and the AREDN HAPac provided an access point and Mesh Chat provided a handy file store for the log file backups.  The Pi and the access point were battery powered the entire time. I could have used the RasPBX, but didn't think of it. It worked flawlessly for the entire outing, even when we were shutting down operating positions for meals, etc.

Pasadena and SoCal

There was quite a lot of mesh going on in SoCal.

At the SPARC/PRC/JPLARC/Caltech site Jonathan KF6RTA ran a 3GHz to Pleasants from Pasadena.  He made several contacts on VoIP and viewed video streams and mesh-chatted with the group in Coachella Valley.
Nasrat K1NAR and Robert used 5GHz equipment, also from the Art Center in Pasadena, to connect to Wilson.
Later in the evening Stan KR6CV also ran a 5GHz node connected to Wilson from the same site.
Chris W6AH connected 5GHz equipment from the ARES LAX Northwest Nike site to Verdugo.

For mesh in SoCal it was a very successful event and showcased how easy it is to set up and have smart communications from a variety of sites.
