Hello,
I am building a mobile AREDN setup using an ALFA Tube and a GL-iNet GL-AR300M16 router. My goal is to connect a laptop through the router’s Wi-Fi hotspot and use the system to conduct a HaLow propagation survey.
I successfully flashed both devices with AREDN firmware version 4.26.7. My base station consists of a MikroTik hAP ac2 router connected to another ALFA Tube.
The two ALFA Tubes connect to each other successfully; however, the GL-AR300M16 does not appear to establish a DTD connection with the mobile ALFA Tube.
I noticed that the GL-AR300M16 interface does not include an “Ethernet Ports” configuration panel, so I am unable to configure Port 2, labeled LAN, for DTD operation. I also checked the swconfig file and found that it does not contain any configuration data.
Could you please advise how to enable or configure DTD capability on the GL-AR300M16?
Thank you for your assistance.

Or ... as your needs don't indicate needing another AREDN router but just wifi access rather than cable to your laptop ... ditch the AR300M16 entirely and just put an inexpensive wifi access point on the cable from the ALFA tube.
True.
Hi, Alan:
The physical 'LAN' port on the GL-AR300M16 (and its cousins) are
not configurable from the user interface.
The 'LAN' port is untagged ethernet DHCP server and tagged VLAN2 (DtD).
I use a GL-AR300M16 remotely occasionally.
I just plugged the 'LAN' port of my GL-AR300M16 into my home VLAN switch
and it appeared on my local network. See image.

Thanks for the feedback... I didn't get a chance to ssh into the AR300 to see if DtD was actually configured...I assumed it wasn't based on the dashboard panel lacking an Ethernet panel.
I'm going to shift to Plan B using a hap AC2. This approach will allow the PoE port to power my ALFA Tube without an injector or additional power supply (USB) for the router.
Cheers and 73

Plan B will be much easier to implement. ;-)
